HOPE
Clouds of thunder enveloped the earth,
As I traversed a lonely path
Wondering when I would be relieved
Of the dimness around me;
Wondering when it would rain
And the sun emerge…
The clouds kept gathering –
The Heavens grew dark
As did my thoughts;
Patience oozed away as dreariness crept in.
When would it rain, and end it all?
Would I ever see light again?
Was I to be imprisoned in this despair forever?
Hope was ebbing away
Thoughts grew grim…
A drop of water embraced my face,
Then another
And another…
The sky shed all its tears
A bright flame illumined my heart,
As the dark of dread
Was defeated by the light of hope.
In the black of grief,
It is this flame of hope
That keeps us going;
That helps us wade through
The sea of sadness,
That helps us walk through
The fire of fear…
