Ravi to campaign with Rahul Gandhi

Even though he prefers not to call himself a political activist, Bhojpuri actor and Bigg Brother contestant Ravi Kissen will be joining Rahul Gandhi on a tour of Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Talking about his plans, he says, "I've received numerous offers from various political parties, but I decided to go with the Congress.

I believe in their ideology and believe Rahul Gandhi is the right candidate to look after the hopes and aspirations of today's youth. I will be going to Amethi with him and will ask people to vote for the Congress."

Does this mean we will see him contest for elections in the near future? "Not at all. I am an actor and that's my profession. I don't have any political ambitions," he says.

During his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Ravi plans to take up the issue of the burgeoning Bhojpuri industry. "There are a couple of issues related to the Bhojpuri industry that need to be addressed. I want to champion the cause of the Bhojpuri film industry."

On the work front, Ravi is currently in Gujrat shooting for a film with Nagma, Manoj Tiwari and Bhagyashree.

After that, he will start work on Ekta Kapoor's Sholay that sees him in the role of Gabbar Singh. "I am very excited about this film. I will be shooting for it this month," says the actor.

Actor Ravi Kishen who has become a household name after his antics in Bigg Boss is now all set to join politics. He will now be campaigning with Rahul Gandhi for the Amethi constituency.

Ravi confirms, "Yes I have always believed in the Congress party. I am all set to join the party. I completely believe that Rahul Gandhi is our future Prime Minister and I will be going to Uttar Pradesh to convince people that Congress is indeed the future of our country."

When did he decide to join the Congress party? "I had done a show a week back at the Andheri Sports Complex where Priya Dutt and Kripa Shanker Singh were present. They were surprised at the kind of response that I got post- Bigg Boss. After that Kripa Shanker asked me to join Congress. I asked them for a day to make my decision. I thought over it and finally said yes. I know that I have a huge fan following in UP and I will ask them to support the Congress and Rahul Gandhi.

No Government has done anything for our industry and I am sure Congress will definitely step up and do something that will benefit of our film industry."

On the film front, Ravi informs, "I have just signed a film by an NRI filmmaker Rajnibhai Patel which will be shot in Canada. Apart from that, at the moment five of my Bhojpuri films are up in theatres and doing well. So, I guess everything is fine."
