I have to say Sanaya irani does not suit this role of a village girl as she seems too urban and sophisticated for me and what some would say too vanilla mind you I am not talking about her acting skills which are good enough but characterisation which is difficult to accept since city slicker image keeps peeping out from time to time and If I am not wrong she has played only urban type roles in previous shows anyway this is my opinion and different opinion are welcomed

Then my dear you haven't watched her in IPKKND! Her role was definitely the opposite of URBAN. It's okay no one's forcing you to watch Rang Rasiya ;)

You should watch her past shows especially IPKKND not even close to urban. I only see her as Paro :)

Why in villages you don't find beautiful girls? I've seen many "sophisticated. urban-looking" bollywood actresses play village girls. What you're saying is equal to "Aishwarya Rai" was not a good choice for Paro in Devdas and Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke.

I would say that SI's the best choice just like Aish was the best choice for the above mentioned roles.

They needed someone with artistic looks to play an artistic role and hence Sanaya. If anything at all, Sanaya has to work on catching up with the local dialect cuz she still has a Hindi accent even when she speaks Rajasthani.

I beg to differ, but for me Sanaya is doing pretty decent job as Paro n improving day by day with every episodes. For me she is living the character of Parvati...n regarding her urban look, even the makers of IPKKND, thought the same, for Khushi, but once she was cast, the rest is history. Gul khan trusted her that time n this time Saurabh Tiwary. n I have full faith on Sanaya. Just wait n watch, she will excel as Parvati.

SI acted as a girl with no sophistication in her previous serial. . If fans accepted her as the girl from Lucknow sans the accent what is so different here.? Perhaps it is the ambience which makes you think she's not fit for the role?

I hear ya MI but if you've watched IPK you can observe how she sounded less Khushi and more Sanaya/ Gunjan (her previous serial) during the first few episodes of the show. For instance, the way she spoke in the first few episodes made her sound a tad too 'urban' considering the settings of her character and a little less eloquent as compared to how Khushi was later in the serial. But her progression was rapid and within a very short period of time she became pretty much perfect with the portrayal. I guess it comes with being comfortable with the role you are playing. So naturally it takes time for her to get connected with the role and pick up the accent, settle into ways and modes of the role etc.

I'm going to give it some time before making sweeping comments. So assuming I'm not too wrong with assessing her acting capabilities, she'd get more comfortable being in Paro's skin :)
