Jashn ki Raat

Jodha was all decked up for today's function. She was looking exquisite beyond words. She was looking very beautiful and the way she elegantly carried herself only added to the charm.

Jodha glanced at her reflection in the gold rimmed mirror and let out a satisfied sigh. Suddenly she saw Jalal peering over her, from the mirror. What was he doing here?

Jalal smirked and said "Subhanallah! Jodha Begum!" Jodha craned her neck to question his presence before the Jashn's time but was shocked to see no one there.

Was she imagining Shehen Shah??

Suddenly an announcement jerked her back from her thoughts. "Ba adab bah Mulaheza Hoshiyar! Mallika-e-Azam Mariam Makkani, Hamida Bano Begum tashreef laa rhii hai!!"

"Mashaallah! Jodha beta" Hamida was pleasantly surprised to see Jodha. She was looking lovely in that Green lehenga bordered with Dark Green, Sequined and Decorated with sparkling silver. It had elaborate designs and looked like It was designed keeping Jodha in mind.

"Pranaam Ammijaan!" Jodha stood up and bent down to touch Hamida's feet before being stopped in middle.

"Jeeti raho, Jodha Beti" Hamida told Jodha lifting her up. "Hamara Aashirwaad hamesha tumhaare saath hai" Hamida smiled her infectious smile and Jodha returned it.

"Tumne to iss lehenge ki khoobsurati aur badha dii, Tum se jyaada aur kisi par itna nahii fabega yeh" Hamida kissed her forehead.

"Dhanyawaad Ammijaan, yeh lehenga hume Shehen Shah ne diyaa hai"

"Hume yahii lag raha tha"

"Kaise Ammijaan?"

"Kyunkii yeh Hare rang ka hai; Jalal ko hara rang bahut pasand hai..."

"Sahii kaha aapne Ammijaan!" Jalal entered with a slight smirk on his face. He told the guards to not announce his arrival; he didn't want to disturb the Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law duo. Or better Mother-Daughter duo, they were more like Mother and Daughter.

Hamida considered Jodha as her daughter on the very first day of meeting her, a feat no Begum of his has achieved yet. He smiled at this thought and proceeded to stand beside the much talked about Duo.

"Hume Hara rang khaas pasand hai aur khaas kar Jodha Begum par" He looked Jodha intently, Jodha couldn't hold his gaze.

He had been literally bowled over at the entrance of Jodha Begum's Khwaabgah, when he saw her in his gifted lehenga, the one he specially ordered for her, She looked beautiful indeed, she was sparkling in the lehenga and Dazzled when she smiled.

Ya Khuda, this girl will be the death of me.

For a moment he wondered if she was an assassin in disguise, looked like she is out to kill every men with her one look, No!! No men would dare to raise their eyes in front of her, she is his, His Begum, His Jodha.

"Toh chale Jodha Begum??"

"Abhi Jalal? Par iss waqt toh Jashn ka samay bhi nahi hua hai" Hamida gave a puzzled look, did Jalal forgot the time in his over- excitement for the Jashn?

"Hume maloom hai Ammijaan, Aap toh jaanti ha Ammijaan Jodha Begum Rajvanshi who iss Mughal Khandaan me abhi nayi toh humne socha ki kyu na unhe hamara Mehel dhikha de" Jalal said still looking at Jodha. Jodha stifled a smile that came unconsciously because her husband cared for these small things related to her. Which she didn't expected from him.

Hamida very well knew that it wasn't the job of emperor to show the palace around to his wives but she then also very well knew that Jodha, is not an ordinary Begum

"Theek hai Jalal, jaise tumhaari marzi. Hum chalte hai" Jalal gave a Salaam while Jodha a Pranaam to Hamida.

After Hamida left, Jalal looked at Jodha with a questioning look with an arched eyebrow. Jodha's hand automatically rose to her mouth to suppress the exploding giggle. Looking at the mighty emperor of Hindustan making baby faces was something different for her, she found it very adorable yet comical.

Jalal scrunched her face, confused with her behavior. Which was cute for Jodha.

"Aisi kya baat ho gayi Jodha Begum jisne aapko hasne par majboor kar diya?"

Jodha, after composing herself, replied" Kadachit, aisi koyi vishey nahii tha Shehen Shah par jaise chehra aapne banaya tha, hum ne hamesha se socha tha Shehen Shah toh eksum pathar ki tarah hote hai, hasna muskurana toh unke bas ke baahar hai aur who hamesha aisa chehra lekar ghoomte hai" and Jodha put up a steely expression on her face and lifted her chin up, faking anger in her eyes.

To which, Jalal burst out laughing.

"Aree Wah! Tajjub hai Shehen Shah aap toh Has bhii sakte hai" Jodha put up amusing smile.

"Hum aapke khayaali Shehen Shah nahi hai Jodha Begum, khiar iss ek baat toh jaruur seekhi hogi aapne"

"Kaisi seekh?"

"Ki kisi se bina mile unke bare me apni soch nahi banana chahiye" Jodha knew he referred to her hostility towards him on the first few days before marriage. She was advised by Dadisa to remove her hate mask and see the Mughals in a new light, because making prejudices about someone you never knew just from hearing isn't something Royals should do, Her Dadisa told her.

And she got to know her Dadisa were right, Mughals weren't like she had thought especially Ammijaan. And she found that, after all , he also wasn't a Jallad like she was told.

"Ab aapki izazat ho toh chale Jodha Begum"

"Jee Shehen Shah"

And with that they stepped out of her chamber, to their "Mehel-dikhaayo" walk.
