Here I am back with the next discussion of the week! This weeks topic is..

Why..?

Why do we come to strangers and ask for help?

Many of us , even myself posted our problem here in the section. But why? We are turning to people we dont know. And many cases their advice help!

So the question is

Why do we turn to strangers(not total strangers..member in advice corner) for advice? Why not our family or friends?

Please do not take this offseivly . Just for discussion.😊

YEP! I thought about the question while I was writing for Discussion Of The Week #1. I think it's because online in this community we feel more free. With our family and friends, we are always tended to be judged and their reactions to our problems are based on how they feel towards the particular problem, for even though our family and friends are the people who care most for us, we have to face sibling rivalry and pettiness from friends, however much we dislike to admit it. We try our best to make a positive image of ourselves and feel embrassed to admit a stupid thing we've done.

When it comes to online forums, we do not have to worry about judgement. We can behave the way WE like, and the fact that we're more relaxed and normal, I believe, makes us more friendly and caring. I have heaps of online friends who discuss their problems with me and vice versa. It may not be as alive as real life friendship, but it is neither biased nor pressurizzed. We feel more comfortable sharing our problems with a person we know, as we feel the judgement is impartial and have no worries about admitting our own mistakes.

I think that this is the base why we feel more comfortable discussing our problems online. BUT the fact is, these are all pretty minor problems, in a real trauma, like the death of a loved one or a serious breakup, I feel it is more comfortable talking with friends and family as they feel more sincerly.

Like Umrao Jaan said, when we get an outsiders opinion it is not biased or pressurized therefore, it provides us different points of views of individuals. This way we can weigh up everything that has been said and what 'seems right' to us. Because as it is we can get thousands of advice from thousands of people but the ultimate decision lies with us.

i agree with what they said^
and also its always good to know what other ppl think.so like u can ask ur frendz n ask ppl on a forumn for their advices n see which one works best or u..
and pplin real life sometimes tell u what u wanna hear ..but ppl on forum are honest and they don't know u so thats an advantage so i guess thats y asking help form strnagers is easier

Why do we come to strangers and ask for help? i guess because some people may feel comfortable seeking advice from those who do not know them and their circumstances completely but wil still try to help...also they do not have speak to someone face to face...another reason is that someone who doesnt know you is most likely to give a balaced view/suggestion hence the best suggestion in some perspective...

Why not our family or friends? again, may not be comfortable sharing everything with those who you know, can be any reason, even awkwardness...but on IF, you dont know the person directly yet there is still some trust...

Because we feel more comfortable with the fact that the strangers do not know us personally and would always advice the best, as they are on the neutral side however friends can take other sides. Also we get to learn about different viewpoints of different people from all around the world. It increases our knowledge about a situation and gives us more hope. 😊

It might be cuz we r shy/embarrassed infront of loved ones.And if we know them personally we know what they r going to say!!
So strangers whu cum to help , cum to help and different opinions the better 😃

Strangers are unknown to us. They will give unbiased advice.We can either take it or trash it. The ball is always at our feet.

Strangers don't have any biased opinions...They're neutral! Then there is trust...As weird as it seems your secrets are more safe with a stranger because they don't know you, and therefore have no reason to tell others! People you know will sometimes tell others and then things spread and so on! It's also easily to pour out your emotitions to a stranger since they won't neccesarily form opinions about you!

we ask strangers for help because they gave their opinon about our problem cuz they tell us what,s in their mind or what would they do if they were in the same situation.family members sometimes look for their own benifits like if they help us first they will think what will they get and then we don,t get the help we needed.as

india-forums here we trust each other no matter if it,s a stranger cuz we know that nobody will give us bad advice or
think bad of us. strangers are better in advice. 😳 😳 😳
