I don't really have a problem with Samrat's character. He is a sexist pig and we've known that from day one. Clearly, he's wrong and is being portrayed as the current antagonist of the story. He's supposed to be a pompous jerk and this in fact, is the main conflict of the show. Samrat unfortunately represents a large population of men in India. It's sick but it's true. But yeah, with that being said, I have a feeling his mother will be worse than him. She's created this monster.

My main problem is mostly with Urmi's family. They are supposed to represent a typical middle class Indian family. However, their views on marriage and women are totally outdated. In fact, they make women sound so helpless and weak. Her in laws' house is her REAL home? Excuse you script writers!

What's next? Urmi can't handle Samrat and returns to her home only to be told by her parents to return to her husband as this is where she belongs now? Since she is "parayi" now. I think if this happens, I'll be done with this show for good. I can't handle anymore regressive nonsense.

Agree, my issue is Urmi's family. Some of what their lines "it's your adhigaar" to ask for the gold chains, etc.

At your last paragraph. I think Urmi will return home and even if her family tells her to return she won't. (Her mother and brother may support her, while her father and grandmother may not.) And of course at this time Samrat will have started realizing how much he misses Urmi and try to get her back. Coming in between his attempts will be his mother.😆😆😆

I agree that shows like this constantly takes Indian Serials back to the Neanderthal Age.

The girls families are the ones who need to change their thinking and take a giant leap into the 21st Century.

I hope there is a method to this madness in showing this regressive thinking and that there will be a light at the end of this Dark ages Tunnel .

Writers and Creatives in this industry need to write better scripts that would show that women do not have to take this kind of crap from men and their over inflated ego and God Complex.

Oh No I was not trying to go into the Samrat/Urmi vs. Samrat/Trish, I was only making a point to a specific poster, who I felt offended by.
Sorry for elaborating too much and coming off your topic.

However, I do agree with the point you are trying to make. It is sad that women are being portrayed this way and the families are encouraging the weaknesses. I did not like especially what her Mother said about changing herself for her in laws. A parent should be telling you to remember what I taught you, show respect but don't let anyone walk all over you. I was really saddened with the advice from her Mother and how the others were forcing Samrat to marry Urmi in the first place.

I understand self respect and all that, but self respect is worse compromised when they are bowing before the Samrat and his family.

What to do? Cvs keep showing these things, but what is anyone doing about it?
