Ishaan believes it himself. He doesn't think he's lying. Urmi asked if Samrat is a good person. Why would he say no? He's close friends with him, so he obviously thinks he's a good person. It's believable. We have seen Samrat's softest sides with Ishaan. We've also seen his playful side with his family, though most times we see his ego and hard head. Ishaan's fault is not that he believes Samrat is a good person; his fault is that he created a false image of Samrat. He didn't do it in a nefarious or cunning manner, he just did it...without realizing what he was really doing.

I blame Ishaan the most but that doesn't mean I dislike him, either. However, I think the idea he keeps repeating is very, very problematic. And unfortunately the show will ultimately validate that idea.
