In Hindi movies u find very rare comic songs. In past years there were some good hilarious songs. But may be becoz of the present hectic life such funny songs are becoming very extinct. Sometimes u find something like 'Ande ka funda' and 'main tuzko bhaga' laya or any typical Govinda song. But i am sure they can't even come any closer to the older lot.
Contorted faces, wacky situations, funny lyrics and some really off the cuff music is what it takes to make a comedy song and i can say with pride that Hindi movies have been able to get all the right masala in making some of the most amazing comic songs ever picturised.
Comedy is a tough thing to enact and to do a comic song is all the more demanding, but that doesn't mean that there haven't been such quality songs which make u laugh and cry with that pain in your stomach. What is sad however is the fact that now a day in the name of comedy what is being dished out is real crap and it hurts to see that happen? Well let's not cry about spill milk, as the idea is to enjoy the good work.
The list is really very long. I have picked up at random some of the funniest songs. I don't say these are the best but maybe amongst the best. The way these songs have been sung with spunk, the hilarious lyrics and the comic timing of the characters who have sung these on the screen combined with the liveliness of the supporting cast makes these classics in their own right. People talk about the romantic numbers and the sad songs but I feel the comic songs are a genre of their own and they have to be appreciated for the service they have done to enliven the joyous spirit on screen.
So let's sit back and try to relive the rib tickling numbers from bollywood. Here go few of my own choice.
Ek Chatur Nar Karke Singar
of course this will always remain on the top of this category. What a song composed by RD and equally sung by Kishor and Manna. When the two opponents (Mehmood & Kishor) start yelling' Ayyo gode... chatur bola..gode bola' U just cant stop laughing.
Muttokodi Kawadi Hada
One more combination of RD and Mehmood. I think these lyrics are of tamil words. I dont know the exact meaning and that may be the reason why this song is a comic one.
Pyar Hamey Kis Mod Pey
This movie a hindi remake of the original Seven brides for seven brothers is one of the best movies ever made in terms of masala content, it had something for everyone from emotion to drama to romance to comedy. The song in question was picturised on the seven brothers led by the inimitable Big B. The comic angle of the song comes from the setting of the same and the way it has been enacted on the screen.
Aake seedhi lage dil pe jaise Katariya
From film Half Ticket Kishore Kumar dressed like a girl and Pran trying to woo him. Simply hilarious…
Meri Bhais ko Danda kyo mara
With lyrics such as those and Shammi Kapoor to enact it on screen how can the song not be funny? I mean when I first heard the lyrics I was like hey this cant be a song, but then it is, and wow what a wonderful comedy song it has come out to be. Do check it out and you would love it to say the least.
