Stars make it Zee night to remember

GENTING HIGHLANDS: Rang De Basanti was named best film at the 10th Zee Cine awards at the Arena of Stars here last night.
The film also bagged five other awards — best director (Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra), best editing (P.S. Bharathi), best cinematography (Binod Pradhan), best music director (A.R. Rahman) and best lyricist (Prasom Joshi).Another big winner was Lage Raho Munnabhai ,which won six awards for best screenplay (Rajkumar Hirani/Abhijit Joshi), best dialogue (Rajkumar Hirani), best story (Rajkumar Hirani/Abhijit Joshi), best actor in a comic role (Arshad Warsi), critics' award-film and critics' award-actor (Sanjay Dutt).
Hrithik Roshan was named best actor for Krrish while Kajol won best actress for Fanaa.
Konkona Sen-Sharma and Abhishek Bachchan received the best supporting actress and best supporting actor awards respectively, while Beedi Jalaile from the film Omkara was adjudged best popular track of the year.
A total of 37 awards were given out.
The glittering event, attended by most of Bollywood's big names, was hosted by celebrated director Karan Johar, actor Saif Ali Khan and actresses Urmila Matondkar and Shilpa Shetty.
Veteran actor-cum-politician Vinod Khanna received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication in the entertainment industry which spanned five decades.
Bollywood luminaries, such as Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, and Preity Zinta were some of the performers at the awards show.
Organised by India's largest satellite broadcasting network, Zee Network, and aired live on Zee TV (Astro Channel 21), this was the fourth time it was held overseas after Dubai (2004), London (2005) and Mauritius (2006).
Meanwhile, Bollywood leading man Shah Rukh Khan does not believe Hollywood has any roles for him.
"If I were to do a film in Hollywood, then it has to be about a 40-year-old who is brown, short, has lots of hair and an Indian."
He said it was not up to him to decide if he wanted to work in Tinseltown.
"Nobody from there has ever called me. And in my age group, Hollywood already has many actors, so I don't think they need me."
