chapter 52
After Viren left with Zaaine, Jeevika showered up and got ready for the day. She wanted to make this a really special birthday for Zaaine, after all it was his last birthday being a single child. She came downstairs to cook something and eat, but then remembered that she hadn't even packed her hospital bag yet. The time was coming close and there was still a lot to do. Jeevika went back upstairs and started collecting and putting everything she needed in one small suitcase. Doing this she started remembering more and more things that needed to be done before her due date. She was going downstairs to eat, when Viren called her on the home phone. She went to the bedroom as fast as possible to pick up the phone.
v - "Jeevika"
j - "Yeah, where are you?"
v - "Just finished my meeting. I'm going pick up some stuff for Zaaine and I'll meet you in an hour or so"
j - "No come home, I want to go with you"
v - "But Jeevika its on the way for me"
j - "No I want to go with you Viren. Both of you always just leave me alone"
v - "Okay okay, but we don't leave you on purpose right? You know I'd rather sit home with you" he said trying to pacify her
j - "No both of you just don't love me anymore. You only care for the baby not me" she said emotionally.
Viren could tell she was having another one of those moments. She seemed to be getting more emotional this time around. It didn't bother him much though since he knew how to pacify her instantly.
v - "Okay look I'm almost at the gate. Come outside fast"
j - "You're already here?"
v - "Yes my love, come outside fast"
j - "Okay" she said quietly.
Jeevika quickly picked up her cell phone and her purse and went outside to see Viren parked on their driveway. She got in the car right next to him and he smiled at her.
v - "I didn't take too long at work today did I?"
j - "A little" 😔
v - "Sorry. Just four more days and then it will be just the both of us on the weekend"
j - "But Viren what about Zaaine? Gosh I'm getting so stressed out" she said putting her head back and closing her eyes.
v - "Why whats wrong? Why are you so stressed out all of a sudden?"
j - "Because we have nothing ready for the hospital. I don't have an outfit to wear this weekend. The nursery is still not complete. The house is not fully set up. And once the baby comes you think any of us would have time to set up the home or anything? And then..."
v - "Okay okay calm down. We will make a list of things tonight of everything that needs to be done and we will do it one by one. I know we have lots to do, but right now just think of Zaaine and his birthday. Where should we take him for lunch?"
j - "Anywhere" she said quietly.
v - "You were so excited last night for his birthday and look at your mood now"
j - "I'm just not feeling good right now so leave it" she said looking away.
Viren parked the car and went to open the door for Jeevika. He helped her out and they both went inside the bakery to pick up a cake for Zaaine.
v - "Which one should we get?"
j - "Whichever, he likes almost anything"
v - "True, should we get the chocolate one. Yours and his favorite"
j - "Okay"
They got the cake and placed it in the trunk of their car.
v - "Okay what else do we need to get for him?"
j - "Uhm nothing. What time are Virat and Manvi coming with the gift?"
v - "I told them I will text them as soon as we pick up Zaaine from school"
j - "Should we go pick him up?"
v - "Its still early don't you think?"
j - "No I miss Zaaine"
v - "So you don't want to spend some time with me alone? I was thinking we could go shopping for sometime"
j - "No I want to get Zaaine"
v - "Okay your wish is my command"
Viren started driving towards Zaaine's school. He kept checking over at Jeevika seeing her face making sure she was okay. He could tell something was up with her today and he didn't know what.
v - "I'll go get him" he said getting out of the car.
Viren quickly went inside and found Zaaine. He signed him out and then got in the car quickly. Viren noticed Jeevika feeling a little uncomfortable.
z - "Hi mommy. Hows my sister?"
j - "She's fine Zaaine, how was school?"
z - "Good! Mommy you know the whole class sang happy birthday for me"
j - "Wow thats so nice"
v - "Jeevika you okay?"
j - "Yeah"
z - "Daa my gift?"
v - "In half an hour. Lets get home, shall we order pizza?"
z - "Yes cheese please!!!"
v - "You got it. Jeevika can you call and order so the pizza comes fast"
j - "Yeah"
While Jeevika placed an order Viren kept driving home. He parked the car fast and helped Zaaine get out. As he was going in he saw Jeevika still not out from her seat. He called out her name but she was still in the car. He quickly went to her side and opened her door and saw one hand on her head and one hand on her stomach.
v - "Jeevika whats wrong? Are you okay?" he said getting worried
Jeevika's eyes were shut still and she seemed to be in a lot of pain.
v - "Come with me. Here hold my hand" he said putting his hand out.
Jeevika immediately took his help but wasn't able to get up. Viren then picked her up from her seat and took her inside as Zaaine kept the door open. He helped her lay down on the sofa immediately and went to get her water. Zaaine was sitting on the ground near Jeevika holding her hand. Viren helped her sit up and drink the water.
v - "Are you okay? Whats going on?"
j - "I'm in a lot of pain" she said crying
v - "Its probably false labour right now. Just close your eyes. Did you eat something bad today?"
Jeevika nodded no.
v - "What did you eat?"
j - "Nothing"
v - "You haven't eaten all day Jeevika? Are you crazy?" he said getting angry.
j - "No" she said hugging onto him crying more... "Viren its hurting a lot" she said trying to convey her pain over.
v - "Zaaine can you quickly go get something to eat from the kitchen"
z - "Okay" he said going immediately
Viren just rubbed her back comforting her and wiping away her tears.
