Ian Chappell advises Sachin to quit

Mumbai: In the aftermath of his declining form in recent years, Sachin Tendulkar was on Friday advised by former Australian cricket captain Ian Chappell to retire.

Chappell said Tendulkar had been a shadow of his former self in the last three or four years and has looked like a player trying to "eke out a career".

In his column for Mid-Day newspaper, Chappell said now that India was knocked out of the World Cup, one of the major decision would be about Tendulkar's fate and he suggested the batting icon to hang up his boots.

"At the moment he looks like a player trying to eke out a career; build on a glittering array of statistics.

"If he really is playing for that reason and not to help win as many matches as he can for India then he is wasting his time and should retire immediately," Chappell wrote.

Before anybody else determined his future, Tendulkar himself should decide what he was trying to achieve, he said.

Chappell drew a comparison with Brian Lara, who is almost four-year senior to the Indian, and felt both were "worlds apart" in effectiveness.

"Lara's quick-footed tip toe through a terrific innings against a good Australian bowling attack when the rest of the West Indies top order succumbed easily was in direct contrast to Tendulkar's stumbling effort in the crucial Sri Lanka match," Chappell said.))))))))))))))))))))))

I personally felt these australians give their opinions when no one wants to hear them, I had felt sachin should retire ,Kumble has done it too. but retiring now when we are at an all time low is not good for indian cricket.he is a hero and he should do it before the entire indian team ,not the sad way in which kumble did.
As for Ian chappel ,he can keep some words of advice for his brother too.he too should retire from coaching any team.
what do you feel?

sachin is getting critisized alot! yes he is growing old and may have lost his touch in cricket, but itz his desicion to retire or not! maybe he just isnt in shape or sumthing. if he wants to retire he will, the media needs to let him decide 4 himself!

Come on Friends, if you feel now that Ian Chappel is NOBODY to give this advise to Sachin, then who was Gavaskar when he talked so much about the aussies? Why did u take all those things as right then? Do we have an answer to this??? 😳

Okay Shabs, I understand your viewpoint. Its okay if we praise or criticize our cricketers, but if anybody else criticizes them (especially the Aussies😉) then it is not okay, right?

Actually the whole fault lies in the BCCI system. A whole lot of shuffling should take place there first, then everything will be fine. And also, the players should not be allowed to do endorsements, then only they will pay more attention to their game. And youngsters should be given more chance.
