I guess the makers of Veera didn't do their research properly. As a girl whose dad is from a pind in Punjab, I can confidently say that a boy and a girl from the same pind can NOT get together. All boys and girls in a pind are considered brothers and sisters; relationships beyond that are very taboo. Now don't get me wrong, this does not mean that such affairs don't occur. Just this summer, I went to father's pind and witnessed many "friendships", one that even included my awfully young cousin. One of my other cousins, who is now married, liked a boy in the pind. I asked her why she didn't get married to him, and she gave me the reason that I stated.

Sweety, With all due respect to all cultures and customs, this is a fictional show, if it were to be based entirely on real facts, then it should also include real people, instead of reel characters, it should be considered a reality show, but it's not, and there's a reason it's called a "Drama", so I suggest that we should all just focus on what's happening in the actual show, than on what actually happens in real life, because if that was the case, then we should also protest against Dramas where a person dies, and a few years later is actually alive and comes back with a new face because that doesn't happen in real life, so it's just about going with the flow, enjoy the show for what it is and not what it should be, in my opinion 😊 Hope I haven't offended you in anyway 😳

These kind of things use to happen before but nobody cares now. People are far more advance now even Pind people. So many people from the same Pind have affairs and what not.. I mean guys are literally standing in front of girl's bedroom window because he wants to meet her I've seen these kind of things with my own eyes.. It's not considered taboo since girl and guys from same Pind are not related.

Well I don't know about all pinds, but some still do practice these customs. And many people on this forum have already pointed this fact out. I do not personally believe in this custom, in fact I find it rather strange and backward. All I'm trying to say is that the writers have not acknowledged this yet, but maybe they will utilize it in another way. Maybe add it as an angle to Veeba; something that is standing in the way of their relationship?

I stated in my previous post that affairs do happen in pinds; they've happened to my very own cousins. But none of them have ever gone further in the relationship because of such backward customs. Many of them have been forced to marry someone from another pind or city.

I don't think anybody cares now.. It's a old thinking since most people use to get married to someone who they're related to NOT blood-related but like your Maasi's sister in law's son most marriages use to happen like this they still happen but i think now there's a choice and most people from pinds have left such thinking behind.. My cousin sister got married to a guy from the same Pind and no one had objections towards it since what does it matter? they're not blood-related.
