Blessings and Curses were essential part Mahabarath.
They paved ways of victories and failure.
Turning points that moved forward the story
Some benefited like Arjuna ,but others doomed like karna, Krishna etc
But every blessing or curse is realted to a story that may or may not be part of MB
These Blessings and curses made a text beyond book . That is an epic
Gods interfered in this story like their own battle .
Just like Iliad by homer.
in short without them Mahabarth wont be complete.
To begin with
Bheeshma was vasu who had been cursed to live a long life human
But again he was blessed By his father with Swacahnda mrityu( Live till you wish)
Then comes Satayavati who known as Matysagandi causeless her body emitted Smell of fish
But she was blessed by Muni parashara to have smell of musk.
Both Ambika and Ambalika 's were blessed by ved vysa to have sons.
But one closed her eyes other felt disgusted by vyas's apperance
which rather reflected in their blessing as curse.
Then comes Pandu who got cursed by a muni that he can't with his wife.
But his wife kunthi was blessed by Durvasa muni that she will be blessed with children of gods as she desire.
There happens the birth of Pandavas as a blessing from gods.
Like wise Gandari was also blessed to have 100 sons. Here also there is blessing

Arjuna was blessed many times
Lord shiva blessed him with Pasupathstra
During his tenure in Dev lok with his father indra there too he earned many astras
Arjuna was cursed by Urvashi that he would nether remain man or woman. But this latter proved him blessing in disguise as it helped him Hidden life in Virata.
Drupadi got five husbands because she was blessed in previous birth that she will get five husbands.
Drupadi was blessed with Akshaya patra in time vanvass by Krishna to feed the people with her.
Karna got worst of curses
Lord parsuram cursed him that he would forgot his weapons when he need them most.
Again A Brahmin cursed him that his wheel sink into sand when he was in at most emergency.
This curses was cause for karna's down fall.
Like wise Gandari cursed Krishna when her 100 sons died that whole yadava clan would perish in front of Krishna's eyes.
Also yadava's clan got cursed when they played a prank of group of holy men. They cursed them an iron rod will be reason for destruction of whole Clan.
And last Ashwathama who got cursed for eternity live a life wanderer who will beget all dieses.
