I cannot understand all the hoopla surrounding her background

Many yesteryear actresses had moms that were mistresses of the rich. Many actresses were forced into acting by their own mothers so they could support the family.

And if they did come from ' decent' families, many slept their their way to success.

Here she just changed her name to get accepted; what is the big deal in that. She lied about her age to get work; previously the mothers lied abt the daughter's age (they were much younger) to get work in bollywood.

Nothing has changed. Just because she is non-Indian people pick on her.

Bollywood has always been full of women like her. Nothing new in what she did.
