Music Review : Dhoom 3 - Misses the Target
Dhoom 3' has probably been one of the most awaited films since the last one year. The earlier two installments were huge blockbusters and so the expectations are high from the third part that is slated to hit the screens on Dec 20. Starring Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, the music of Dhoom 3' has been composed by Pritam and has released worldwide. Let's see whether it lives up to its expectations.
Song 1: Dhoom Macchale
Singers: Siddharth Mahaevan, Shilpa Rao
Analysis: The album begins with the cult hit Dhoom Macchale. Sung by newcomer Aditi Singh Sharma, this song is again a remixed version from the previous versions. Pritam uses western instruments and adds a lot of fast based rap into this song. While the song has nothing new in terms of the tune, it has become the anthem for this franchise.
Song 2: Malang
Singers: Nakash Aziz, Antara Mitra
Analysis: The album moves ahead with Malang' which is a Sufi song with contemporary beats. The song has been designed in a very Indian way and the best part is where the Ragas come in the background as chorus. Shilpa Rao's voice suits the song well and will grow on you once you watch the visuals which are lavish.
Song 3: Kamli
Singers: Sunishi Chauhan
Analysis: The third song in the album is Kamli' which is Katrina Kaif's version of Aishwarya Rai's Crazy Kiya Re'. Sung by the legendary Sunidhi Chauhan, Kamli has some very contemporary beats with a very catchy tune. The song hits you instantly and with Katrina's stunning dance moves, this number is surely set to rock the charts.
Song 4: Tu Hi Junoon
Singers: Mohit Chauhan
Analysis: The fourth song in the album is Tu Hi Junoon' which is a typical montage song sung by Mohit Chauhan. Perhaps the weakest song in the album, this number has nothing much in terms of the tune or sound. A simple passable song which might hit you once you watch the visuals.
Song 5: Bande Hai Hum Uske
Singers: Antara Mitra
Analysis: The next last song is Band Hai Hum Uske' which is a heavy duty chorus sung by kids. The song has some heavy duty chords and depicts the pain in the film.
Song 6: Dhoom Macchale
Singers: Julius Packiam
Analysis:The last song in the album is the Arabic version of Dhoom Macchale. Sung by Julius Packiam, this song is unique and has been added for the promotional purpose to the album.
Verdict: Verdict: Overall, Dhoom 3 is once again a hardcore commercial album as have been the case with its previous versions. Dhoom Machale's Arabic version, Kamli and Malang are our picks. Though this album does not have tracks that will instantly hit on you, Dhoom 3s music will surely grow on you once you listen to it multiple times.
