Sony's Kulvaddhu was suddenly axed and when the channel was asked to give a specific reason for doing so, the head honcho reportedly said, "After watching it for two months we realised that the story wasn't moving the way we wanted it to. The lead protagonist Niyati just doesn't fit in. She doesn't represent today's youngsters." Poor girl, what is she to do if her script is such. A young, bubbly looking girl is made to dress like a plump ghati village belle, who's only job is to keep the husband happy no matter how much pain it causes her. The script itself is warped — not today's theme. We hear Sony too is insisting on programmes for the young, aspirational women who want to go out there and achieve something for themselves. Not a typical housewife. |
