Why Lord Parashuram accepted Devavrata as his student?

This question often arises in minds of people and I was no exception. Just like kings and other people request someone to teach their children, Mother Ganga made a request to Lord Parashuram.
Lord Parashuram taught Devavrata when he was a boy as he was the son of Ganga. He didn't live with his Kshatriya father then. So perhaps he being a Kshatriya didn't matter as he was the son of a goddess. And I guess Mother Ganga revealed to Lord Parashuram about Devavrata being a cursed Vasu, an elemental god. This is the reason Lord Parashuram made an exception and taught the young Devavrata.
Now someone tell me what's Devavrata's fault in this? 😲😆😕 He's blame free.
Now coming to the fight between Lord and his dear student, the fight lasted for twenty three days with no clear result. Bhishma fought only because it was his Guru's order and he couldn't refuse him. He reflected the character of a true warrior throughout the battle turned out to be invincible. Later when he was all set to use a divine deadly weapon "Parshwapastra" that had the ability to put the foe on sleep. When a warrior sleeps in the battle field, it's considered his defeat. And Parashuram wasn't aware of the weapon. Gods rushed to Bhishma and requested him not to use the weapon as it would humiliate his Guru. Due to his great respect for his Guru, Bhishma didn't use the weapon.

Pitrs then appeared and obstructed the chariot of Parashurama, forbidding him from fighting any longer. The spirit of Parashurama's father, Jamadagni and his grandfather, Rucheeka, spoke to him:

O son, never again engage in battle with Bhishma or any other Kshatriya. Heroism and courage in battle are the qualities of a Kshatriya, and study of the Vedas and the practice of austerities are the wealth of the Brahmans. Previously you took up weapons to protect the Brahmans, but this is not the case now. Let this battle with Bhishma be your last. O son of the Bhrigu race, it is not possible to defeat Bhishma.

In the end, the Gods showered praise on Bhishma, and he sought the blessing of Parashurama as his guru. The avatar then acknowledged that his former student was truly invincible, telling Amba:

Using even the very best of weapons I have not been able to obtain any advantage over Bhishma, that foremost of all wielders of weapons! I have exerted now to the best of my power and might. Seek the protection of Bhishma himself, thou hast no other refuge now.

Thanks for explaining Shruti. I really wanted to know why Parshutam accepted Bhishma as his student despite being a Kshatriya. Nice post 😊

so the people who didnt have a strong influence , they shouldnt have a right to education ? this is exactly what happens in modern colleges also.

if we blame karna for lying to his guru and taking education , then we should blame bheeshma also for using his mother's influence and taking education. why is bheeshma not condemned for this ? by the way what did bheeshma even do for his guru in return ? infact because of his abducting of ladies , his guru had to come and fight with him. what an awesome guru dakshina bheeshma gave to lord parshuram🤢😡.
karna on the other hand endured so much pain just for a trivial reason of his guru's sleep.

i mean if his guru's life was in danger and he did something for him , then it is normal thing. however for a trivial reason of not letting his guru's sleep get disturbed , he endured so much pain. this is far more appreciable.

First go and read the epic carefully...later given an extract proving that Bhishma USED his mother's influence.

And what Bhishma gave his Guru as his dakshina isn't mentioned anywhere...as his educational incidents haven't been written in detail.

Bhishma had a great respect for his Guru, this was the only reason he agreed to fight with him.

It is never said that bheeshma used his mothers influence to get shiksha from parshurama , Bhishma only went to Parshurama because he was following his mothers order, at that age when he went for shiksha nobody chose their guru the guru is chosen by their parents not themselves.

if bheeshma was a cursed vasu , then why lord parshuram gave him training.

whatever it may be , but fact remains that bheeshma got it on a platter because of his mother devi ganga while poor karna had to fight against all odds throughout.

in my opinion karna was a far better shishya than bheeshma.

Please yar don't do comparisons. They both were great but in all aspects, Bhishma was greater than Karna..we should not make comparisons b/w a grandfather & his grandson..

We should better stick to the topic. Here we're talking about Parshuram accepting Bhishma as his student despite being a Kshatriya. Karna ko mat laao beech mein..please ! Yahan Karna ki baat nahi ho rahi.

karna had far more respect and devotion towards his guru.

Bhishma's respect for all his Gurus is unmatched...same thing in the case of Karna/Arjuna and others.

There's no point in arguing that who had more respect and devotion.

Where it's written that cursed people don't deserve a training? Even mother Ganga and Shantanu were cursed.

And parents only used to arrange teachers for their kids.

So arguing on this point is useless...
