an afternoon scene, teenage kids running wildly out of school, when the bus stops, they push the older ladies and others who were standing for long in a line and try to pack the bus. when the ladies try to remind them that they have been waiting for hours, the kids just give a smirk and ignore . have these kids lost their manners? where does discipline start from? school or home? were the kids of past generations more disciplined? are the kids in india still disciplined when compared to the past generation kids? how do you discipline your kid? imo discipline starts from home ofcourse, school tries to inculcate them with wider range of ettiquites. what's your opinion? 😊

i tried to make this post more of a debate one but it seems it has turn out to be more of a discussion one 😕. mods please close this thread if you feel this thread is not posted in the right place 😛

Welcome Raunaq! Well so many questions 😆 :

"have these kids lost their manners?" Absolutely!
"where does discipline start from? school or home? " Actually both, well no I think more at Home.
"were the kids' of past generations more disciplined?" Its hard to say based on scenario you described, I mean it depends - there are things new generation do like expression of thoughts which might be indiscipline if you guage from old times.
"are the kids in india still disciplined when compared to the past generation kids? "Yes
"how do you discipline your kid? "Well for that answer you will have to wait 5-6 years.. lol. By making them understand the value of actions and adding logical reasoning for everything - thats the language kids of today understand.

Welcome Raunaq to DM. So nice to see you. Hope Munnabhai follows. He used to post here earlier.

have these kids lost their manners? Kids are kids. Some less mannered than others. But in this case they are way out of line.

where does discipline start from? school or home? At home. In my opinion before teaching them ABCs parents should teach basic etiquette and discipline. I had mentioned this sometime back about a kid of my associate who is a terror and so difficult to handle that I stopped going to their house or inviting them to mine. His parents look proud when he jumps on someone else's couch and shows his hyperactive antics🤢.

were the kids' of past generations more disciplined? I don't think generation or time has anything to do with bad parenting.

are the kids in india still disciplined when compared to the past generation kids? I am not sure. The example I gave above is of an Indian kid.

how do you discipline your kid? I have my methods😈.

Woah!I don't know many children who are like that!Well,I'm not..lol. 😳

But I know there are a few children who are so indicsiplined, and I'd like to say that it's mostly thier parents fault for not teaching them or simply giving up.

I'm very thankful to my parents for teaching me respect and morals...and I'll be sure to do the same for my children.
