BULLETT RAJA, releasing this Friday, has quite a unique cast. There is Saif Ali Khan (coming from Hit COCKTAIL and 100 crore success RACE 2) being paired for the first time with Sonakshi Sinha (who has established herself as an A-list actress due to some of her hugely successful films in the last few years). There is also Jimmy Shergill in the film. And of course, there is director Tigmanshu Dhulia, who has directed well-received films like PAAN SINGH TOMAR and SAHIB BIWI AUR GANGSTER in the past.
Given that this is a Saif Ali Khan starrer, the buzz for this film is much lower than what it should be. Also, from the film's look and trailer, it seems that this film may only be liked by audience in UP and other small circuits. As we saw with SINGH SAHAB THE GREAT recently, a decent performance at single screens/mass dominated areas is not enough to score at the box office, especially in today's time when majority of revenue comes from multiplexes.
Also, next week will see the release of the much-hyped R...RAJKUMAR, a similar genre film with same heroine (Sonakshi Sinha) and has the same target audience. Therefore, BULLETT RAJA has only week to score at the box office, which won't be enough.
Opening Wise, the film should get a strong opening on the strength of Saif Ali Khan's starpower and his first-time pairing with Sonakshi Sinha. The opening will be universally good: Saif Ali Khan is popular with the urban audience, so they will come to watch the film and at the same time, the genre/mass appeal of the film will ensure that the masses will come to watch the film as well. And in general, those who have liked the songs may come too to watch the film.
After the opening weekend, I think the film will fare very poorly in the big cities.
