Miss Representation in 24
The pressure on women to look and behave in certain ways is deeply ingrained in Indian Telly World. I do not have to elaborate on this -- all of you know the typical bahu, saas, daughter, sister, bua, etc.
Generally in TV shows women are typically valued more for their beauty, looks, youth, and for depicting 'adarsh' values or uninhibited cattiness rather than their intellectual capabilities or their ability to take command. This show (24) is definitely doing its bit to show the modern Indian woman!
It subliminally portrays a 'model' of competence for woman. It shows women excelling in situations and careers that are generally portrayed exclusively by men! I find it different from other shows because it is closing the gap between men and women.
Of course it is Prithvi's MOM who is catty but then you have KK the wheeler and dealer who will stop at nothing.
So overall there is no misrepresentation of women only Miss Representation😉
