shlock is a villain at this point. He planned revenge and conducted it generally quite well but it wasnt flawless. He screwed up many times, but aastha was in her own world and ignored the warning signs. Niranjan has more class when he conducts the same sort of behavior because he has perfected his character (more experience), shlock still does not know how to control his emotions/aggression. When he was attracted to aastha (kollaphur hotel scene), he promised himself that he will not get distracted.
From shlocks side, he wanted revenge, he did not like aastha, so every romantic moment when he was trying to woe her, he probably thought b**** i hate your guts, i'm going to make you suffer. In terms of his behavior in suhag raat and at the temple scene yesterday, if he went through so much for revenge of course he would want to stick the knife in and cause as pain as possible...or what would have been the point of it all. Did we want him to tell aastha politely and leave it at that? If we saw a toned down conversation in the last 2 episodes, i think the story would have been damn boring and the revenge pointless...
So why is it hurting us so much? Because, despite knowing that shlock was faking his love we were hoping there was some moments where he was not faking it and he was genuine...that deep down he had feelings for her, so seeing him stick that knife in her hurt us as much as it hurt aastha. Avinash and shrenu portrayed the characters to perfection in the last few episodes, so we could really feel aasthas pain, and a lot of us are not willing to forgive shlock.
The story a head, for me is really interesting. Its not a simple love story, where the guy is "somewhat" bad and the heroine transforms him with either love or her own little revenge or tit bit arguments. The cycle of abuse in this family runs deep. It is accepted, it is natural to the agnihotris as breathing is for the rest of us. Aastha, will not tolerate to much crap herself as she has been given ample freedom in her life to do whatever she wants. She might not be as rich as him, but that doesnt mean she didnt get everything she wanted. But she was not ever abused. I loved in yesterdays episode that after he stabbed the knife in her like 100 times with each and every word, she died a thousand deaths like any other girl in her situation would, but she was practical about the situation, she was ready to move on and didnt give a hoot about society. Of course her weakness being her parents he will keep her there and she will have to fight the battle from there. Shlocks revenge is not going to stop at hey sweetheart take my shoes off...of course he will do more, also i think we will see more of papa abuser, his role in all this...
Abuse is complex and i am glad that the cvs have taken it on. We might not necessarily like what we see, but it does exist in our society. People keep mentioning that shlock said he does not lie but he did, abusers always talk about themselves being perfect, that they had to be angry because of what the "other" person did...this is a classic trait of abusers...
This show promises so much in terms of storyline and character complexity. I am looking forward to see how they tackle serious issues...and the sucker for romance in me wants to see shlock developing genuine feelings for aastha, but as his love develops for aastha i want hers to diminish for him. I think for aastha to forgive him he needs to have gone to hell and back 100 times over, and i wish they tackle the abuse properly, not just skim over it so that we can see a love story.
