Nautanki Films' Madhubala' takes up a social cause

MUMBAI: One of the most watched soaps on Colors - Nautanki Films' Madhubala - is using its popularity to draw attention to a serious social issue like forced abortions, the serial's lead protagonist Madhubala (Dhrasti Dhami) is seen in a dilemma which many women in India can relate to.

In present day society, though women's rights are being spoken and fought for, their liberty to take decisions stands as a question mark. Forced abortions, a prevalent concern, is faced by most of the members of the fairer sex irrespective of their caste, class or creed.

Madhubala has taken up the task of bringing this issue to the forefront. The past week saw the show's protagonist, Madhu's, dreams getting crushed when her husband RK tries to coerce her to abort their first child to suit his own agenda. Standing against her husband's wishes, Madhu makes a firm decision to keep the child.

Nautanki Films co-producer Abhinav Shukla said in a release: "Many times injustices done against women go unnoticed. With our show we will try to throw light on these issues, we are hopeful the gravity of this social issue will reach out and make an impact on the show's many viewers."

Going by the promos, the upcoming episodes will see Madhu suffer a supposed accidental miscarriage', symbolising the often sad fate that befalls Indian women.
Nautanki Films co-producer Saurabh Tewari added: "It is not the first time we have introduced a social cause in the story, and it is definitely not the last time we will do so. We are quite pleased to use our show as a platform to showcase issues which affect the general public"

Coincidentally the show had previously dabbled with the grave issue of female foeticide, wherein Madhubala's mother was forced to drop her girl child by her husband and family, against whom she strongly fought and won, managing to keep the baby. It must be said that Nautanki Films' Madhubala is surely proving to be quite an inspiration for its female fan following.

👏👏bingo,and also stop showing woman as a sacrificial lamb,on one hand they are focusing on social issues on the other hand they are showing a woman getting constantly insulted publicly by her husband.

media mai itni badi badi baaten aur madhubala serial mai jab se shuru hua hai tab se ek aurat chahe wo maa ho ya biwi usse bete aur pati ke haathu publically huminilate hote dikhaya gaya ha aur ab bhi dikha rahe hai acc . to latest articles pahale rk madhu ho bhari party mai sabke saamne beijjat karega usse pair ki jooti banane ki koshish karega .aur uske baad bhi apni biwi ko itna mental torture karega ki uska miscarriage ho jayega itne par bhi uska man ego santusht nahin hoga woh dukh ke time bhi apni biwi ko support nahin karega balki ussi par ilzaam lagayega ki usne jaan boojh kar uske bachche ko khatam kiya .is serial mai ar n st n gh ne rk ke itna jhoote ahankaar mai dooba dikhaya hai jiska koi kahana nahin.aur upar se itni badi badi baaten .

Great social cause in the show and women in is insulted by her men and for this SOCIAL CAUSE is it so necessary to show your male protagonist in bad light their are no other ways? And PB says that their is no Social cause thing in this show just a love story and Producers says this whom words to take?😕

what a bull shit article and quotes from ST and AS
the only reason they showed the pregnancy and abortion drama was to create a wedge between the leads and not to tale up a social cause.

If they were interested in social causes they wouldnt keep on showing public humiliation or atleast show Madhu tryin to stand against it.

Its their story and they are free to show what they want but dont ty o gain publicity by calling it a social cause

Why they said from begining Madhubala is great love story and story about girl who was born to become a superstar ? So now what happened that u r saying show is taking up the sociall cause !!!1
After revenge track u have said RK is not willian in twitter then why did you ruin this character on negative way ? To lie to your viewers is what kind of social cause ?
Since more than a year evil woman like Deepali is dominating in Rishbala 's life instead any punishment is which kind of social cause ?
A educated girl like Madhu is supporting Pabho in there nirvan vidhi .,So here where is your noble task regarding woman related social cause ?
By showing a emotionless and selfish woman like Pabho up to her winning stage , is a social cause ?
Insted of highlighting the struggle of Bolywood people, the story is spoiling the image of Bolywood actors at such a extent that the new generation thinks twice before joining the industry, is this a social cause ?
