Yash Chopra's name is never short of musical excellence ranging from Lamhe, Chandni to his recent Dil To Pagal Hai. Striving towards a different genre in the 1993 thriller Darr, Chopra did not take the same trend with the music. The outcome was another compilation of melodious tunes. Not all were perfect and of the calibre of regular Chopra soundtracks, but the overall feel was of great music.

Love… Passion… Obsession, a brief sub line that aptly describes "Jaadu Teri Nazar" and the "Obsession" instrumental. "Jaadu Teri Nazar" is an excellent opener with Udit Narayan clearly depicting the lust a man has for his lover, "Kiran" with the right amount of hit instrumentalism for us to hit the repeat button. The tune instantaneously has you repeating, "Tu Hai Meri Kiran…" The obsession instrumental is aptly tuned without striking the listener.

"Ishq Da Rog Bura" and "Solah Buton Meri Choli Mein" are perhaps the most normal and regular tunes on the soundtrack. The former is a run of the mill tune with Lata and Vinod Rathod singing averagely and the latter a shaadi number that teams Lata with Kavita Krishnamurthy and Pamela Chopra. The songs are naturally listenable but serve their purpose more for the film.

For romance and more along the normal Shiv-Hari tunes there is "Likha Hai Yeh" an excellent romance tune with Lata Mangeshkar sounding zestfully entertaining and A. Hariharan serenading her just as so. Anand Bakshi pens a sweet tune here.

"Tu Mere Samne" is one of the famous Udit-Lata duets of the early years. Another power packed tune with excellent singing from its counterparts. Udit reaches the audience and Lata supports well.

"Darwaza Band Karlo", perhaps the most lyrically situational number from Bakshi is still entertaining and strikes the romantic chords in the same sense.

A popular "Holi" tune today, "Ang Se Ang Lagana" is a purposeful and peppy- fun song to listen to when the season rolls around. Alka Yagnik, Sudesh Bhosle, Vinod Rathod and Devki Pandit sing well enough.

This violent love story didn't have any strikingly violent tunes. Most of them flowed well with a typical Yash Chopra fare but the film, which was touted to be strikingly different should have carried some more distinct tunes. Shiv-Hari still compose very well with melodious well-composed songs and others that are pretty much made solely for the film.

tu ere saamne, tu hai mere kiran and darwaza band karlo were my favs i can still listen to them now but my fav track of all is likha hai ye in haawoan mein
