Question about wife or wives?

In the Muslim culture can someone really have more than one wife by law?

Yes they can have 4 wifes by law but they are suppose to treat them equally in every aspect. Rashid has faltered there as he gave one wife a life and the other misery.

CAN marry 4wives but in condition to treat them equally
But u know law change from country to another and recently here where i live ,man was obliged to take his first wife yes before he could marry
So if first one wont accept he cant get married again 😆
Leave it In general islam allow man to marry 4 but should treat them equally and if he couldnt so he shouldnt marry them

yes only only four wives and that too on the condition that he treats them fairly and equally in all aspects, love and financially. Islam recommends having only one wife but isn't againt polygamy.

Yes, a man is allowed to have up to four wives, but there are conditions. He needs to be able to treat them all equally and provide for them equally and separately. It says that the wives should not even have to cross each other paths if so. So that means separate houses and everything. Also, it's only under the condition if the first wife says yes. Most of the time, the first wife is or does put in the marriage contract that her husband is not allowed to take another wife. Another thing is, this was only done back then because when men would go to war, their wives would be widowed if they died in war. In the times of the Prophet, many women didn't work, and had no means of financial support without their husbands. So it was encouraged that another man marry her so he can support her financially and offer her a home and means of living. That was the main reason a man would marry more than one woman. So he could provide for her if she had no shelter and what not.
