Deepika gets unexpected compliment from Rishi at her film's screening.
Deepika Padukone's equation with former flame Ranbir Kapoor's parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, has been strained for some time now.
After the couple parted ways, Deepika made uncharitable remarks against Ranbir on Karan Johar's chat show which upset his parents. Rishi retaliated by saying that his son will never work with the actress again.
But the two former lovers went on to star in the recent hit Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and now Deepika has buried the hatchet with the parents too.
Heads turned when Deepika hugged Rishi and Neetu at a special screening of Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela at a suburban theatre recently.
Onlookers say that it was Deepika who went up to the couple and they met her warmly. The eyewitness told Mirror, "It was a very happy moment. It was clear that the Kapoors have let bygones be bygones. The three of them also had a short conversation with Rishi telling her, 'Well done beta. Keep it up. God bless you'."
Is Deepika the highest paid actress?
Deepika Padukone is on a high with five backto-back hits; Cocktail, Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and now Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. And buzz is that she is cashing in on the high to become Bollywood's best paid actress.
Trade experts believe that she is a safe bet at the ticket windows. "She can be counted in the hero's league," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Another trade expert Amod Mehra is more wary in his assesment, "Deepika has come a long way from the days of her plain Jane avatar in her debut film Om Shanti Om. Today, she is a sex goddess. She has worked her way up. She should continue to work with big stars in woman-oriented films."
Ramesh Taurani, who in fact was given a lot of grief by Deepika when she threatened to walk out from his Race 2 until CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) intervened, says, "She must be getting more money than her contemporaries. She has delivered four hits just this year. She is every filmmaker's first choice today." - Vickey Lalwani
