Deepika is a good actress ...But no way she can be compared to kajol or sridevi ...

I'm not buying into the hype around Deepika at all. I certainly don't think she's suddenly a shoe-in to become the next numero uno. However Kajol is a criminally overrated actress, most of her best movies were with Srk, and of those movies none of her performances were particularly excellent. Her only other standout films were Gupt, Dushman, and Dil Kya Kare. In Dil Kya kare her performance was nothing to write home about. In Gupt and Dushman she was good.

The way people praise her to the skies makes it seem like she's at the same level as someone like Julia Roberts, or Kate Winslet. She's nothing special. The only excellent female actors of recent times in Bollywood are Rani Mukherjee, Vidya Balan. Kareena Kapoor had massive potential to be at the same level as them but she blew it by choosing crap films.

From Kajol's contemporaries the only excellent actresses that come to mind are Urmilla, and Sri-Devi (although she's quite a bit older than Kajol). Madhuri is another one who's massively overrated. Brilliant dancer, pushed boundaries, beautiful, but excellent actress? Hmmm.

kajol had her moments, dips is having hers now, tomorrow someone else will have their moment.
