You've both hit on two things that would really make the show, that both do pursue their studies. Laajo has more potential in her rather then to just be a housewife. She's intelligent and her interest in sciences should be explored, so she should become a doctor. Nikhil also what is he doing at home, if he had a plan to travel abroad to study it should still happen it doesn't matter if he got married, actually it's better that he doesn't love his wife, or hasn't realised it, he can go study and on his return he will see Laajo working as a resident in a hospital, see how she has integrated in their society, independent and accomplished she is.

I really hope this happens in the show.
Academics are a very important priority for both boys and girls apart from other things.
Just because Nikhil and Lajjo are married that should not deter them from pursuing their Academics.
It will be Amazing if CV's can show Lajjo will be given an opportunity to pursue her dreams of studying and ultimately becoming doctor and working in a hospital.
Nikhil also should pursue his studies abroad.
It will be really nice if Nikhil goes for his studies before realising his feelings for Lajjo.
Lot of scenes can be incorporated regarding Lajjo's studies. It will show that girls are very hard working and studious and can achieve their dreams if they are given one opportunity.
Then CV's can show a time lapse for further story.
