Before I was Famous

Before they were all over our TV sets, before they were recognized on the streets and before they had their fat paychecks and fancy cars. We asked our television actors of the lives they led prior to fame and fortune:

Winner of Sansui's Coolest Face Award, Pulkit Samrat from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi talks about his days before he bagged the role as Lakshya.

I was one of the most mischievous guys around
I'm from Delhi so I grew up roaming around there. I used to mainly ramble around GK or invite friends over or spend time in their houses. My friends and I were the naughtiest bunch of guys around. We would do every nonsense thing possible on earth.

Once I was driving the car and a friend of mine was sitting behind. We stopped at the signal and my friend was making faces at a guy in another car. This guy got really aggravated and my friend continued thinking that we would be speeding off as soon as the signal turned green. My friend thought I would move ahead but when the signal changed I stayed put and waiting for him to get a bashing!

I did my college at the Appejay Institute of design in Delhi. The funny thing is that I never used to bunk even though I was the naughtiest guy. I preferred having sit teasing teachers during my lectures. I must have bunked maybe five times in my entire college days. I would never go partying and still don't. I'm just not that kind of guy. I'd rather just hang around with friends and go out to dinner or something. I think God has a fixed dinner for me everyday. I eat butter chicken, raita and naan daily. That has been the case as long as I remember.

Local trains and buses were my mode of transport
I used to do all my traveling by public transport: local trains, buses and rickshaws. That was three years ago. When I was in Delhi I would drive the family car which was a Honda City but now I drive my own Skoda. It makes all the difference because this is my own car, solely mine and not shared by the whole family. Also I don't have to travel by auto and buses anymore.

It feels great having my own money
I wasn't a spoilt kid but whenever I needed money my parents would give it to me. Obviously I didn't get anything I wanted but I was able to live on a pocket money handed out by my folks. Now it feels great because I have my own money and can buy things for myself and my parents. It's also a wonderful feeling be able to give back rather than taking.

I wanted a life where I would be constantly recognized and bothered by people
I always wanted this kind of life so I can safely say I don't miss anything before my acting days. I lived in the dream world since my childhood where I was this famous person whom everyone knew- Everyone would turn their heads to take a second look at me, girls would scream with excitement on seeing me and I wouldn't be able to walk the streets or eat pani puri in peace without big bodyguards protecting me and people gathering around. I'm on my way to being that person. I'm getting there and that's why I don't feel much has changed about my life. I was always living this life in my head.
