We all know that Birbal was one the 9 gems in Akbar court! He was not only a court jester but was known for his clever methods of solving problems.
In the beginning of this show, Jalal's character was nicely portrayed compared to the movie especially when the 2 conditions of the marriage where put forward. In the movie, a shocked and angry Jalal walks out and then appreciates the Jodha's values and boldness and accepts the conditions. it did not touch me much... Where as in the series, they showed Jalal, who was know for his mastermind tactics, gets angry but walks like a lion observing its prey - Jodha's expressions, analyzing the situation - Jodha's reasons for putting forward the conditions and finally attacking - accepting the conditions saying that this was not such a big deal for a shehanshah like him! I simply loved it...
Through out his wedding episodes and the initial Agar episode up to Rukayya's MC episode the CVs maintain this quality of Jalal. Let it be the reasons for marrying Jodha rather than taking her as a bhandi or why he accepted the 2 conditions or why he should stay calm when she burnt she wedding gift and not wage a war or even when he was mean to her in Agra just to break her down, his character was on the dot perfect. However, during the MC episode i was quite disappointed for his irrational behavior and strategies. Okay, may be he was not thinking because he had just lost his child. Even then Rukayya looked more rational and thoughtful when she explains why Jodha did not gain from harming the child!
He ( I mean the CVs) started showing signs of improving on his Character in Amer when he decided to give the durg to the Dhawalgarh raja and capturing it back and also eventually giving it to Sukanya as a gifts. His reasoning also portrayed his superior statesmanship.
Then What happened now? He is hurt okay I understand, but where is thinking process hiding? Jodha clearly states that for her, especially as a Rajvashi, her self respect was a priority and on top of that being a married woman she would never thinking of another man... Jalal supposedly showed signs of understanding the values of the Rajputs. He even states this plainly to her that they would for one not betrayi him and he knows that (in Amer during the Prithiviraj Chuahan episode). One would only deduct that there is something Kala in the Daal !! Even then he just rants about proving her wrong and finding that "one day" when she slipped... He does not want to even suspect that the kwajashera was wrong even for a moment!
I feel the movie at least did not bring Jodha's character to this low level and just stopped at having an affair and did not get her pregnant! that is one of the worst accusations after which any woman will loose all existing hopes to fix a marriage. She may eventually be able to survive in the marriage with a broken heart but love? after this if they show the 2 loving each other eternally it is quite hard to believe. if this did happen for really, then kudos to Jodha Begum!!!
Watching Jodha and Akbar today I somehow missed Birbal's presence so much i could not stop thinking of him... Jalal needs Salima to help him solve the issue like Rahim did it the last time? God! WHy are the CVs not making him think? He was a clever man and we are not seeing it... at least I am not... why are they trying to make sure everyone one has an equal role although I know Salima was supposed to be an able administrator as well...
After today's episode, i felt the CVs are trying to show us why Birbal became such an important figure in Jalal's court!!!
PS: Where is MAan Singh. He had promised to support his Aunt in Agra. Why is he missing in all the diwan i khaaz scenes...
