I am as mischievous as Durgesh says Rinku Ghosh
Bhojpuri actor Rinku Ghosh hits prime time with the show 'Durgesh Nandini'
With a lathi in her hand and a punch to match, 'Durgesh Nandini' (Sony) has come to town. Essaying the fiery protagonist with consummate ease is actor Rinku Ghosh. "I am receiving a good feedback from the audiences. They say that they can't imagine anyone else but me as Durgesh," she says excitedly. Does she identify with her character? "Oh, I am as lively and mischievous as Durgesh. I cannot tolerate any injustice either. So you can say that Durgesh is me and I am Durgesh."
Rinku adds, "I play a village belle. Since I have done Bhojpuri films, adopting the dialect was easy. But we have gone easy on the accent since television has largely Hindi speaking audiences. My long hair helped me bag the role because my character wears plaits."
Hugely popular in Bhojpuri films, why did Rinku turn to television? "The role was too good to let go of. You don't get such good roles even in films. Television has become as big as films today. The production house is huge too," she answers.
After doing a few films down South and a couple of Hindi films, Rinku found her calling in Bhojpuri films while still in college. She has even featured in some blockbusters with actor Ravi Kishen. In fact, she still has a few films lined up for release this year.
That she has a close resemblance to legendary actor Vyjanthimala Bali is not something that Rinku hasn't been told before. "People also feel that I resemble Kajol. Though it's a lovely compliment, I would rather have my own identity," she laughs.
Presently, busy with the show Rinku is not ready to take up anything else. "I am happy doing something different from the regular fare on television. But I don't know what tomorrow holds," she ends.
