AarYa OS - Breaking Barriers
Aarti had slowly started developing affection towards Yashji. Marriage had bound them into one and though Yashji was still in a condition where he could not allow anyone to take the place of Arpita whom he loved so much, for Aarti it wasn't that difficult as she had seen betrayal by her former husband whom she had loved with a pure heart.
Any attempt from Aarti to try to get closer to Yashji only saw him withdraw further. She did not want to push herself on him too --- forcefully. She knew she had to be patient as he was a very nice person and needed more time and lots of love to help him accept that life had to be lived afresh and there was nothing wrong with it.
Meanwhile Prateik and Paridhi got married and seeing the "love birds" the way they were would sometimes make Aarti yearn more and more for her husband's love. Aarti took complete care of the family --- their children, Palak, Payal and Ansh and also the needs of Yashji to the best of her abilities.
One night it was dinner time and all had assembled at the dining area except for Prateek and Paridhi. SP was wondering where they had disappeared without informing the family. Gayatri told him that they hadn't gone anywhere as they had not told her and she asked Aarti to check in their room and ask them to join everyone for dinner. Aarti agreed and walked towards their room. She reached there and found the door to be open and before she could call out to either her Devar or Paridhi, she found them in a very cozy position --- Paridhi was sitting on Prateik's lap while he was sitting on the bed and they were holding on to each other and staring into each other's eyes.
Aarti quickly closed her eyes and walked a little away from the room. She understood that they were newly married and they needed their private moments to themselves ---- and many times these needs could crop up at any time of the day or night and it was not something unnatural. So she decided to leave them alone and started walking towards the dining area thinking of what excuse she should give to her mother in law. Meanwhile she saw Yashji walking from the opposite direction and heading towards their room. Aarti knew he too was going to call Prateik and so she had to stop him from going further.
Aarti: Yashji, where are you going? It is time for dinner.
Yash: I know Aartiji, but Prateik hasn't come and all are waiting there. Ma told me that she sent you to call them but I can see that you are on your way without them. Let me go and call him.
Aarti: No Yashji, please don't go there. Prateik bhaiya will come in a few minutes. I've already told him to.
Yash: No Aartiji, I'll be there only with him now. He is getting very irresponsible now a days.
And without listening to Aarti any further, he walked towards Prateik's room and saw them in the next stage of proximity.
Yash also had to return back without talking to him as Aarti did and saw Aarti waiting where she had spoken to him.
Aarti: What happened, Yashji, could you speak to him?
Yash (avoiding eye contact with Aarti): Oh yes, I've told him and he will be joining us soon.
Aarti: That's what I told you some time back.
She smiles a little and Yash could note that both knew what the other had seen in Prateik's room.
Both of them walk towards the dining area without the newly-wed couple.
Everyone saw them and SP finally said: Let's start and hopefully they will come soon.
SP looked at Yash and winked at him. Yash made a straight face and adjusted his plate as if he was really hungry. Aarti started serving food for everyone.
Yash quietly now sent a SMS to Prateik from below the table which read --- "If you are done --- come and join us for dinner soon!"
Here in Prateik's room, his mobile beeped with a message that forced them to move apart and Prateik casually looked at it first and then pushed Paridhi away from his lap when he saw that it was from his big brother!
Prateik: Paridhi, come we have to go for dinner.
Paridhi too realized that they had got carried away and they made themselves presentable and walked quickly towards the dining area.
Everyone started looking at them and concealed their smile.
Prateik took a seat next to Yash.
Yash (softly): Close the door next time.
Prateik: Sorry bhaiya.
They look at each other and smile.
Aarti comes near them and asks: What shall I serve for you, Devarji?
Prateik looks at her and says: Bhabhi anything would be fine.
Aarti gives him a smile and serves him and moves to the next person.
Prateik: Bhaiya, does bhabhi know about it?
Yash: First, you do things without precautions and then you ask me silly questions!
Prateik feels totally embarrassed and somehow they manage to finish their diner and leave.
***************
Yash reached his room that night and Aarti was also ready to retire for the day.
Yash: Aartiji, I just wanted to ask you something.
Aarti looks at him and smiles. She then comes a little near him and he moves back.
Aarti: Don't worry Yashji, I won't do anything like that.
Yash gets worried and asks: Like what Aartiji?
Aarti: Like what you saw some time back ----
Yash now avoids looking at her and says: No --- I did not see anything. And hope you too did not see what I saw!
Aarti starts giggling at his confused reply.
Aarti: You are confusing me too --- "did not see" and "what you saw"!! Yashji --- you need to rest.
Yash: Okay Aartiji ---- good night.
Yash lies down.
He tosses and turns that night.
Aarti knew he was fighting a battle with himself. She let him be.
Next morning, Aarti dressed up to nearly help him come out with his feelings for her.
Yash saw her bringing his morning tea and could not take his eyes off her.
Aarti did not look at him lest she disturbed him from having his share of happiness in admiring her. She knew in her heart of hearts that he had started loving her too.
She left the tea near his side table and raised her eyes towards him for just a moment. Yash saw her and moved his hands towards her face. They both remained like that gazing into each other for a few minutes.
Then Aarti moved and said: Yashji, I'll go and make some breakfast for you.
Yash got up and held her hand.
Yash: Aartiji, I need to tell you something.
Aarti stopped and waited.
Yash came in front of her and looking down towards the floor said: Is it possible Aartiji that we can love someone again after having loved someone so dearly?
Aarti: I think so --- Yes we can.
Yash: Will it not be unfair then towards the first person?
Aarti: It would --- if they are still around.
Yash: And if they are no longer in this world --- would they not be able to see what we are doing? Won't they mind it then?
Aarti: Yashji, I can only talk for myself and if I loved someone, I would be happy in their happiness. Not in their feeling lost and being lonely all throughout their life.
Yash: Aartiji, can you forget your first husband so easily?
Aarti: No ---- I can't but that does not mean I cannot love someone else. In fact, I have started too ---
She then looks at Yash after the hint she gave him.
Yash: Oh --- okay please make my breakfast.
Aarti leaves Yash to think over what she had told him.
She comes back to see Yash looking dashing and admiring himself in the mirror. He was making sure that he looked good and sprayed some perfume as he caught Aarti's reflection through the mirror.
Yash: Oh Aartiji, you have returned quickly. You seem to be an expert in cooking.
Aarti: I thought it was already too late Yashji!
Saying this Aarti waited there for Yash to say something more.
Yash could understand Aarti's loaded statement and came forward.
Yash: Aartiji, actually I've been wanting to tell you that --- you are a good daughter in law ---
Aarti looked at him ---- her eyes waiting to see something more in his eyes.
Yash: You're a great mother too ---- Palak and Payal are so happy ever since you have come here as their mother.
Aarti: Ansh is happy too with you as a father Yashji and I am happy too in this house.
Yash now wanted to tell her his feelings but still was finding it difficult.
Aarti decided that it was time for her to make the move.
Aarti went near him and placed her hands on his shoulders.
Yash looked first right and then left and then at Aarti.
Aarti moved one step forward and immediately said: Please don't move away Yashji ---- please!
Yash kept standing there rooted as if to obey her command.
Aarti: I have started liking you Yashji.
She lowers her gaze as she said this.
She then slowly removes her hands from his shoulders and finds that he had held them now.
Yash moves one step forward towards her leaving very little space between the two of them.
Yash places her hands over his lips and plants a gentle kiss.
Yash looks at Aarti no see her reaction which was one of elation.
Yash: I have also started loving someone --- very much.
Aarti begins to feel slightly shy now.
Yash: Someone who is very close to me --- someone who is a good daughter in law ---- someone who is a great mother --- and I think that someone who is a good wife too --- but I will have to see how good she would be in totality.
Yash now hugs Aarti and says: Can I test you now?
Aarti tries to nudge him away but he holds her tight.
Yash: No Aartiji --- it has taken me so long to express myself and now having done it don't make me wait any further. I can't my dear ---- I can't.
Aarti hears these words and hugs him tightly.
Then she suddenly goes close to his ears and says something.
Yash: Thanks Aartiji for reminding ---- or else we'll have Prateik catching us today in the act while we are late for breakfast.
He doesn't waste a second and latches the door.
Rest you all can imagine!
