Part 25

Shlok gets a call from his lawyer regarding the case on varad and niranjan..

Shlok is tensed.. and he is walking around in tension in the corridor.. then he gets some plan and he walks away ..

Astha is sitting in her room and remembers her moment with shlok on haldi day.. she slipped into shloks hand and all her haldi was all over him.. it keeps bothering her as she never wanted to forgive shlok..

But then she remembers that her mother was there to bless her in the haldi function and also the fact that he saved karan's life without thinking once..

" I need to speak to karan.. he needs to know about shlok and our past... even if he doesn't want to know I need to tell him.."

Astha gets up and walks to karans room.. she sees karan packing..

" are u going somewhere karan?" astha is surprised

" oh yeah astha.. am going to chandigarh..i have some urgent work and I will be back in 2 days.." karan says

"what!! How can u go? Day after is mehandi.." astha asks with concern

" I know astha.. but this is important.. I need to get this sorted out urgently.. my presence is required.. and mehandi is generally a ladies function so my absence will not be a problem.. I will back next morning.." karan says seriously

" whats the matter karan? Why is this work more important than our marriage? " astha asks

" no astha.. there is nothing like that.. please don't take things otherwise..i rreeaaly need to go.." karan holds astha's shoulder and explains

Astha smiles " karan I need to tell u something.. its very important and before our marriage I need to tell u.."

Karan looks at his watch " astha I am getting late for my flight.. I will hear u as soon as I return okay" karan hurrily leaves and astha is left without being heard..

Astha feels uncomfortable as she keeps thinking about shlok and everything that's happening..

Karan leaves to chandigarh..

Astha is siting in her room and looking at her wedding invitation..

"Astha weds Karan"

Astha looks at that and thinks " whats happening to me? Why am I suddenly feeling that everything is going wrong??am I betraying karan by not telling him everything? Or am I developing a soft corner for shlok ?"

"no I cant.. he spoiled my life and broke my trust.. I cant ever forgive him" astha tries to be strong..

Suddenly she hears a knock..

Shlok is standing near her door..

Astha stands up and sees why did he come her..

Shlok walks upto her and says "astha I need some help from you'

Astha looks at him confused

"astha please come with me to the court tomorrow.. it's the final hearing of Niranjan Agnihotri and Varad.. the girls who I had brought as witnesses are now not willing to come to the court.. Varad's guys have threatened them and now they are scared... I think u talking to them will help"

Astha gives a disinterested look..

"I am sorry shlok.. I cant come with you... ur father, ur brother and the case is not my problem.." astha sternly says

Shlok gets annoyed.. he grabs astha's arm in anger" comeon astha how can u say that.. u know everything that had been happeneing.. and u were the first to get them arrested on basis of this case.."

Astha looks at shlok in anger " I am not interested shlok"

Shlok shouts in anger " the astha I knew always stood for the right thing.. she was selfless and helped people.."

" yes shlok..i did.. and I also know what I have got in return.. I lost my father in trying to teach ur father a lesson.. and now neither I care nor I want to get involved .." astha says with a teary eye yet stern..

Shlok pushes away astha's arm in anger that he was holding and walks away..

Next morning Shlok is ouside the court with the lawyer and some girls as witnesses

" please girls.. ur statement is very important today... u have to speak up.. this is our last hearing.. and if everything goes right then niranjan agnihotri and varad will be in prison forever.. please don't worry.. varad and his men cannot do anything to you.. ur security is my responsibility I promise..."

The girls look all tensed.. " shlok sir.. they have threatened to kill us and harm our family members too.."

" varad cannot do anything.." a voice that everyone hears and turn back to see..

Its Astha standing there..

One of the girls recognizes her astha..!!"

" u girls have to speak up today.. not for urself but for all those who have silently suffered for so so many years.. imagine if they had taken the courage to speak up then u all might not have been here in this condition.. and today if u don't speak up then some years later there will be many more girls here in this same condition.. may be it could be ur own daughter.. u need to speak up today.. and as shlok said ur security is his responsibility.."

The girls look confused but astha's words seem to make them think

They get the call for the hearing in the court..

Shlok is tensed and folds his hands in stress and sits down in the court .. Astha sits next to him and puts her hand on his shoulder and smiles in support...

The girls do speak up and give their statement against NA and Varad and they get sentenced for 14 years in jail... they are taken away by the cops as astha and shlok seem happy and smiling about what ever happened..

Shlok thanks the lawyer and the girls as they leave.

Shlok gets the car and astha sits in.. " thank u astha.. if u hadn't come I don't know if these girls would have given their statement"

Astha smiles at shlok

" I need to show u something astha.. come with me" shlok says with a smile and they drive away..

He takes her to a slightly desserted place and stops the car.. he asks her to get down..

Shlok gets his laptop and switches it on and keeps it on the car bonnet.. then he connects to video chat with someone..

A lady logs into chatting with him... " hi mary.. how are u doing?" shlok waves his hand and smiles

" am fine shlok.. its been many days.. how is delhi" mary asks

" all good mary.. I want to tell u that we won the case today..." shlok smiles and says

" oh wow congrats" mary gives a small clap..

Astha looks confused.shlok sees the look at astha's face

" oh sorry.. mary this is astha.."

" oh great shlok.. so u found ur astha back?" mary excitedly asks

Shlok has a moment of embarresment.. " where are the kids?" shlok asks to change the topic

4 kids come over and start waving to shlok and shlok starts talking to them and asking them about studies etc.. Astha also enjoys it and she talks to them in happiness..

Finally they say a bye and leave..N

Astha questions shlok " who are these kids shlok?"

Shlok takes a long pause then speaks up " I am sorry astha.. I never wanted your father to die.. I know I hated u for whatever reasons in my life and wanted to take a revenge for spoiling my fathers reputation.. but I never wished that ur father dies.. it was just unfortunate.. and trust me I never could get over my guilt for this..."

" 4 years back I opened an institutions and trust for orphans in pune in ur fathers name where a lot of unfortunate children are sponsored by the wealthy people of pune .."

Shlok shows some pics on his laptop of the opening of the institution " "avdoot kirloskar educational trust"

Astha sees the pics and listens to shlok teary eyes..

" Astha these kids are orphans..i have adopted or u can say sponsored them to study and lead a good life.. I know I cant get back ur dad but in their name every year a kid will get a good life.. may be ur fathers soul will be able to rest in peace"

Shlok says astha with guilt and teary eyes

Astha suddenly in the verge of all the emotions hugs shlok..and shlok hugs back... suddenly they share a very emotional moment in that lonely place..

Suddenly astha realizes and comes back into reality and moves away from shlok.. and starts walking away

Shlok suddenly says " I LOVE YOU ASTHA"

Astha is taken aback and sees shlok in shock.. " please shlok dont say this.." astha screams.. and she starts running away from there onto the road..

Suddenly a bus comes by and astha gets almost hit when shlok pulls her in the nick of time..

" stop it astha.. listen to me.." shlok says holding her

Astha cries " please shlok.. leave me alone.. ita taken me 4 years to get out of all this.. and now that I have decided to have a new life u are here to mess up again.. I loved u a lot shlok.. I loved u a lot from the day I ever understood what love is.. but u destroyed it from ur own hands.."

Shlok takes astha back to the car and calms her down and says softly" no astha.. don't take me wrong.. I have no expectations from you to ever come back to me.. but I just want u to know that I always loved you.. the first time I saw u I knew that the feeling was love.. whatever I ever said to you in that hut in lonavla was not fake.. whatever happened between us was not fake astha.."

" I don't have any expectations from you astha.. but its just that I wanted u know what I feel for you and ever felt for you. After this day even if u don't ever speak to me I will never interfere into ur life but please don't cry as I never want to be a reason for ur tears in ur life again"

Shlok drives the car back home.. Astha keeps looking out of the window and doesn't talk to shlok the whole way..

They reach home and astha gets down and walks away without talking to shlok..

The next morning is mehandi and sangeet...

Astha gets ready in a beautiful ghagra and all the preparations are done..

Astha sits upset in her room as she is unable to getover whatever shlok told her the previous day..

Diya comes to the room " astha are u ready.. wow astha u are looking beautiful.. lets go down"

Astha seems a bit disturbed.. but she goes down to the function.. her mother takes her hand and slowly applies mehandi to her..

And then a lady comes and starts applying mehandi to astha..

Astha keeps very quiet and upset as the women are singing and dancing when the mehandi is been applied..

Shlok doesn't attend the mehandi function and he is sitting in his room and thinking.. he keeps thinking if what he did was right or wrong..

Astha looks at her mehandi as its completed and cleaned... she looks it and sees karans name in her hand.. she touches it and thinks as tears roll down her eyes..

She takes her mobile and calls up karan.. but his phone is not reachable.. " where are u karan? I need to talk to you" astha says in disappointment..

The next day evening is the wedding..

Shlok is in his room thinking.. he looks at the album of astha and her mangalsutra that was with him ..he finally gets up and starts packing his bag

Astha lies down on her bed and closes her eyes and tries to stop thinking too much

Karan is traveling in the flight.. he seems to be thinking something too..
