Comas don't normally lead to memory loss. It's usually if there's been a physical brain injury that one sees both coma and memory loss in a person. But knowing the CVs...anything is possible, right? This isn't prediction, I know this won't happen in the show lol. It had been five days since RK's coma, when the doctor walked outside.
"How's RK?!" Madhu instantly questioned the doctor.
"We've got good news and bad news..."
"What's the good news?"
"Mr. Kundra is out of the coma."
Madhu sighed a sigh of relief, as did all the others. Just as a smile was about to form on her lips, the doctor continued.
"However, he has suffered from retrograde amnesia...that means that Mr. Kundra has suffered from memory loss preceding the coma."
"Mem...memory loss?" Madhu stuttered as she stood in denial.
"Yes ma'am. I'm sorry but we can't yet determine how long back the memory loss has gone. We've yet to run the tests for that."
"No...that can't...it can't be...THAT CAN'T BE," Madhu screamed as she backed into the wall behind her.
Madhu ran her hands through her hair as tears flowed out of her eyes. Paabo, Dipali, Bittuji, and Radha stood stunned as Roma attempted to calm Madhu down.
"Mr. Kundra will be able to see you all one at a time if you'd like. I'd advise for Mrs. Kundra to see him first since your name was on his lips throughout his unconsciousness. I'd like to join you in the room to assess his memory. I'll give you both a few minutes alone however."
The doctor stared down at Madhu. Madhu slowly stepped towards the door, afraid of what she'd have to face. With a deep breath, she opened the door. Madhu walked towards RK's bedside, making sure not to make too much noise. Tears fell from her eyes but she kept quiet, afraid of seeing RK's first reaction upon seeing her. It had only been a few months since he had fallen for her. She feared his memory loss was from before then. With one last step towards his bed, the floor creaked. RK's eyes shot open. He seemed disoriented at first as he squinted past the bright light from above. As his eyes came into focus, he saw Madhu standing over him, staring down at him with wet eyes. At first she thought he was fine. She thought a smile was about to form on his face. That was until a furious look crossed his face. He sat up instantly, causing Madhu to take a step back. Her eyes went wide with fear as RK stared at her with confused, angry eyes.
"What are you doing here Biwi?"
Biwi. Madhu didn't think anything wrong of that, so she responded.
"RK, I..."
"What am I still doing here? How many days has it been since I got shot?" RK interrupted her.
"Shot? RK you were..."
"Where's Bittuji. Why are you here. Get out."
RK looked away, angered for no apparent reason.
"RK?" Madhu whispered with a little ray of hope still left.
He ignored her. The noise of the door opening caught both RK and Madhu's attention. The doctor walked in to see tears still falling from Madhu's eyes. With one look in her direction, he sighed, knowing something was wrong.
The doctor went to stand on the other side of RK's bed.
"Hello Mr. Kundra, do you know where you are?"
"The hospital? I'm not blind."
"Very well, do you know why you're here?"
"Yes."
"And would you like to expand on that please?"
"I was attacked and shot at the Ganpati festival."
My heart stopped. He had gone so far back that there was no way he'd remember all that him and I now shared. He had gone back to the four-phere wedding we shared. I began stepping back, unable to bear the reality before me. RK glanced towards me and confusion crossed his face again.
"Biwi?"
It was as though she didn't hear him, she continued to step back until she hit a wall. She came out of her trance as she hit the wall; she glanced back at the wall and then towards RK. That's when the doctor asked one last question.
"What month and year are we currently in?"
RK kept his eyes on Madhu as he answered.
"October of 2012."
Madhu gasped, unable to control her tears, she ran out of the room.
As she stepped outside, she fell to her knees, breaking down in front of everyone.
Radha, Paabo, and Dipali all looked down at Madhu shocked and curious. Roma bent knelt down with Madhu and took her in her arms.
"What happened Madhu! RK's out of his coma!"
"R...RK...he...he doesn't remember...he forgot..." Madhu let out a loud cry and buried herself into Roma's chest to cry.
"Shh...what are you trying to say Madhu?"
"He thinks he was shot at the Ganpati festival..." Madhu managed to let out quickly between a sob.
Shock hit everyone. A moment later, Paabo turned to face Dipali. Both exchanged a smile as they realized how easy it'd be to get rid of Madhu now.
"Shh Madhu! We'll just wait a little and then tell RK everything. We'll tell him the truth!"
"He won't...he won't believe it!" she continued to cry.
The doctor stepped out of the room and he grabbed everyone's attention.
"It seems as though RK is living a year in the past. Unfortunately, we're unable to say whether this is a permanent memory loss or temporary. Therefore, you should all be careful with what is told to him. Too much of a shock could prove dangerous for him."
"Yes doctor!" Paabo answered with enthusiasm.
"Madhu, you go back in there and talk to RK," Roma tried to convince Madhu.
"I can't...I can't handle it..." Madhu answered.
"There's no point. Rishabh won't pay much heed to her," Paabo answered.
Determined to prove Paabo wrong, Madhu slowly stood back up. Madhu wiped away at her tears and turned to face RK's door. She opened the door and stepped inside. RK sat, leaning against his pillow, facing the door where Madhu entered. He had the same look of confusion and frustration on his face as he tried to decipher what was wrong with Madhu.
Madhu slowly began walking towards him.
"What happened to you Biwi?" RK asked her in the same tone he used to speak to her with when he didn't care much.
"Nothing..." Madhu came to a stop next to his bed.
RK kept his eyes on her, as though trying to read her eyes.
"Something's wrong. What is it? Tell me."
"Nothing's wrong," Madhu lied.
"Biwi..."
"RK..."
RK looked away, angry, sighed, and then glanced back towards Madhu.
"You're not going to tell me so easily are you? Do I need to call Bittuji?"
Madhu kept quiet.
"Do you really want to know?"
"Yes."
"Then listen. We're married."
RK kept a straight face for a second and then let out a chuckle.
"I was the one who pulled you around for the wedding, I don't think I'd forget."
Madhu held back tears, feeling them slide down the back of her throat as her stomach began to feel uneasy.
She took a hold of RK's hand but he pulled away instantly.
"What are you doing?!"
"Recreating the past," she smiled, determined to recreate all the magic that had been forgotten.
