Being Gautami Ram Kapoor…
Gautami and Ram Kapoor met each other on the sets of Ghar Ek Mandir in 2000. Love blossomed and three years later they got married. While Gautami has stopped working after pregnancy, Ram made his comeback to the small screen with a very powerful role of Jai Walia in Kasamh Se. We chat with Gautami and find out about what it means being Mrs. Ram Kapoor.
Gautami and Ram Kapoor met each other on the sets of Ghar Ek Mandir in 2000. Love blossomed and three years later they got married. While Gautami has stopped working after pregnancy, Ram made his comeback to the small screen with a very powerful role of Jai Walia in Kasamh Se. We chat with Gautami and find out about what it means being Mrs. Ram Kapoor.
I'm proud of Ram
"I get a big fillip whenever anyone recognises Ram when we visit any place together. Some people might feel it is invasion of privacy but I think every actor vouches for it and Ram has definitely worked hard to reach this level. I feel funny when his female fans get disappointed when they come to know that he's married. Most of them come for autographs and photos. But I never feel jealous or something like that. On the contrary, I feel very happy for him."
He's a craze among men too…
"I remember once we went out shopping at Atria Mall since Ram had a holiday. But we couldn't shop at all for two hours. Guess what it wasn't because we were surrounded by his female fans. There were these men who came up to him saying they love him as Jai Walia in Kasamh Se and were regular viewers of the show. That was a really big revelation – I never knew he was so famous among men too. Good looking male actors having a huge female fan following is very common but men… I find that crazy.
We got married on Valentine's Day!
"Both of us are of the very romantic kind. So we decided that we wanted to get married on Valentine's Day. Fortunately, that was also good according to our pundit. So our parents agreed.
"When I initially meet him, I was really scared of him to be honest because of his deep voice and serious looks. I used to wonder, what if I fumbled while acting any scene. But gradually we became good friends. I had apprehensions about losing him and so refrained from expressing my feelings for him when I realised that I was in love. Further, at that time both of us were involved in different relationships. But one fine day he proposed and after that marriage was a mere formality."
Marriage has changed Ram
"After marriage he has changed a lot as an actor. He now knows how to control his performance and he has got more depth in his acting. In personal life he is a brat but he has mellowed down a lot. Becoming a father has definitely been one of the major factors. Now he saves money, thinks a lot about family and has become patient too, which he never was earlier. He has become more responsible and after watching all these changes in him I can't stop laughing."
Itching for a comeback
"I'm doing auditions and meeting people. I'm completely open to working again. Even Ram wants me to get back at work, so when something interesting will come out, I'll surely take it up. My mother and in-laws are also very supportive, so I'm looking forward to work now as my baby is also nine months old.
Working with Ram again?
"I would definitely like to work with him again but only when he'll be little bit free from his busy schedule. Right now he is too occupied with Kasamh Se. So I'll have to wait for my turn. We would like to work with Ekta again and also feel very obliged to her since we met each other on her set only."
