HAAN..jaanta hu Zoya ko...pichle saat saalo se Zoya meri saath mere zehen mein kisi na kis tarah se rahi hai...woh meri zindagi thi..meri mohobbat thi...humane zindagi ke 3 saal saath bitaaye hai...as best friends, as lovers as soulmates...I loved her Ayaan..if thats what you wanted to hear...I loved her more than anything or anyone else in this world.She was my everything...she brought light in my life, made me smile, made me enjoy the inrticacises of this world..She gave me everything that my life took away from me, and she made me realize that I too can feel happy and feel loved. And then...he stuttered...and then she left me...she left me with no answers, left me to die inside...she gave me everything and took it all away...just like my life...Ayaan...she broke my heart and she broke my soul...and even after all that she did to me..I goddamn it still love her..I still love her the same way when I first saw her with her camera, when I kissed her. Asad's last word echoed through the house as a chant, knocking Ayaan's core. He was beyond shocked at his brothers confession, but looking at the state of his brother, tears burning in his eyes, jaws clenched in anguish and hands balled up in fists..Ayaan realized the gruesomeness of the situation.

Asad- Aise kya dekh rahe ho Ayaan..why are you so shocked...didn't expect that now did u?? Well seems like its ur lucky day , after all the snooping around you've been doing, you finally hit the jackpot...YES Zoya was my wife, we were married..we were married for almost 2 years..before...his voice broke...ang his anger rose..Before she left me with this...He threw the piece of paper by Ayaan's feet. This paper would have helped u solve this mystery a lot earlier had u not dropped it in my closet...With that he walked out of the house...tossing his ringing phone.

Dilshad- Asad ruk jao...meri baat to suno mere bachhe...she cried...trying to reach out to his son, but he had already driven off into the night, leaving behind the debris of his destruction.

Ayaan was in a state of shock as he picked up the paper Asad had thrown,reading the content of the paper..

It was the divorce paper of Mr Asad Ahmed Khan and Mrs Zoya Asad Khan with their signatures at the bottom..

It was a loose page from the divorce papers that Asad had tried to forget, locking them in the drawer.

Ayaan's tears fell freely as he realsied what he had done,what he had made his brother face. He screamed, cursing himself, cursing his actions and falling on the ground. He weeped like a baby, feeling the pain he had indirectly inflicted on his brother.. Dilshad's arms on his shoulders made him look up, but the rage for himself kept falling from his eyes...

Dilshad-Ayaan..dont cry...its not your fault..

Ayaan- Yeh aap kaise keh sakti hai ammi...its all my fault..bhaijaan sach keh rahe the...I did snoop around in his closet..and aaj meri wajah se...he couldn't finish the sentence...as Dilshad took him in her arms to pacify him..

Dilshad-Nahi Ayaan...tumne to sirf apne bhaijaan ke baare mein jaan na chaaha tha..aur is mein koi buraai nahi..Asad ki is haalat ki zimedaar mein hu...I am the reason why my son is so broken...

Ayaan's head shot up as he looked at Dilshad..the confusion apparent in his eyes..

Ayaan- Yeh aap kya keh rahi hai ammi?? Aaa aap ka kya ...

Dilshad- Ayaan I am telling the truth...I am the reason why Asad and Zoya are not together today, I broke them apart, I commited the biggest crime and that too on my own son...

Ayaan- Ammi please..aap kya kehna chaahti hai please tell me,..

Dilshad just smiled..her tears projecting her pain, her guilt...Finally after 5 long years she spoke, she confessed her sins and let it all out.

Ayaan-No that's not true..aap aisa kabhi nahi kar sakti..mmmein aapko bachpan se jaanta hu..ammi aap to ek machhar ko bhi dard nahi...No..I don't believe this..

Ammi sach keh rahi hai Ayaan bhai jaan..spoke Najma, standing by the stairs..ammi ne jo kuch bhi aap ko bataaya wos sab sach hai...unhone hi Zoya ko Asad bhaijaan ko chod dene ko kaha tha..

Ayaan couldn't believe what he heard, he looked at both the women..wanting to understand...

Ayaan-Mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha..I mean ammi aisa kyun..karegi ..

Dilshad-Kyunki mein ek buri insaan hu..I couldn't stand anyone being happy when I was...maine...aaapni khudgarzi mein mere bte ki khusiyaan le li...Allah mujhe is ki sazaa zarroor dega..

Najma-Ammi please..stop this...haan aapne galti ki..magar hum yeh nazar andaaz nahi kar sakte ki ur were mentally unstable when you did what you did..aap hosh mein nahi thi..

Dilshad-To kya hua..maine to hosh mein aane ke baad bhi kuch theek nahi kiya...aaj tak apne bte ko yeh baat nahi keh paayi..ki tumahri shaadi maine tudwaayi hai...maine Asad ko har pal marte hue dekha hai..aur phir bhi maine kuch nahi kiya.. I let him blame Zoya for his misery..but aaj nahi... she stood up and wiped her tears...making her way to the door...Aaj mein Asad ko sab sach bataa kar hi rahungi..

But before she could Najma and Ayaan grabbed her..

Najma-Ammi aap aise nahi kar sakti..

Dilshad-Kyun nahi,,mujhe mere gunaah ki sazaa milni chaahiye...I cant see me son suffer because of me...he deserves to know that truth...she tried shoving them off..but it vain..Ayaan just held on to her..

Ayaan-Ammi...please...sambhaalie apne aap ko...bhaijaan is already very disturbed, aur agar aap bhi...He wont be able to take it...

Dilshad let go..as she sat on the sofa...her eyes filled with tears..

Ayaan- To tum hi bataao mein kya karu...itne saalo tak...she cried and she cried not able to say anything...her tears speaking on her behalf.

Najma-Ammi..sab theek ho jaayega..already..Zoya waapis aa gayi hai...that's god's indication that everything will be fine. Bhaijaan ko bas thoda waqt do and time aane par mein aur Ayaan ek mauka nikal kar aapki baat Asad bhaijaan se karva denge..filhaal aap bas bhaijaan ki strength ban kar unka saath dijiye..everything else..Allah will take care of. He will definetly bring both bhaijaan and Zoya together... Dilshad looked up,a ray of hope finally shining in her eyes..

Vaada?? She asked.

Vaada...replied Ayaan and Najma..sharing a look with each other..they both knew that the road ahead was a tough one but no matter what they had to bring Asad and Zoya together..

The buzz of his phone made Ayaan stir, seeing Zoya's name flash he picked it up,unaware what came next.

Zoya-umm..uh..Hello AyAyaan...how are u?? ..Her voice was shaky

Ayaan-Umm Zoya..kya hua..itni raat ko kaise call kiya..is everything ok??

Zoya- Haan..umm bas uh aaise hi...uh I uh..umm I just wanted to ask u how y..your date with Humeira went...she tried to make conversation, still processing how to ask him about Asad.

Ever since Asad left her home she had felt restless, even Mango sensing her distress paced around the room. Zoya waited for Asad to call her, but he never did.she finally called him but he didn't pick up, she tried several times but he didn't pick up,infact the last time she called, the phone switched off after 2 rings, confirming her doubts that something was teribbly wrong with Asad. With her heart in her mouth she decided to call Ayaan, somehow wanting to ask about Asad.

Ayaan-Umm Zoya now is not a good time...

Zoya- O kya hua sab theek to hai?? I uh mean is your family alright, is Mr Khan alright?? She let the last bit slip in hoping it didn't sound desperate.

But now it made sense to Ayaan, Zoya had called to find out about bhaijaan and despite the tension simmering in the house he smiled.

Ayaan- Umm Zoya..Asad bhaijaan ghar nahi...Actually he just left..we don't know where... He waited for her reaction.

Zoya- Oh ok..uh sab theek to hai naa..I uh mean I know it none of my business..its just tha...

Ayaan- Zoya stop it...I know..

Zoya- Huh..what do you mean by that??

Ayaan- Zoya I know about you and bhaijaan.

Zoya- Huh what do you mean by that..Ayaan we are all friends...what are you trying to tell...she felt on the edge, not wanting to succumb to his speculation.

Ayaan- Stop pretending that you don't know anything Zoya...I know it all..Asad bhaijaan just told me everything, I know you both know each other from before, I know that you were in love, that you..he faltered at the last bit..that u were married...Zoya I know it all so please stop pretending, I am sick and tired of it.

Oh' was the only reply he heard.

Ayaan- Zoya are you still there?? Zoya please answer..After a long pause Zoya finally responded..the shakiness in her voice gone.

Zoya- Ayaan when did Asad tell you all this, what happened??? And please don't dare to leave things out...I want to know everything..Damn it..I knew something was gonna go terribly wrong, she gritted her teeth as she spoke the last line.

Ayaan filled her in with every detail of the past hour, Zoya absorbing every bit of it.

Zoya- Ayaan come pick me up, and don't say no, I need you by the entrance in the next 15 minutes and that's an order.

Ayaan- jo hukum...bhabhi... He smiled...liking the sound of that word, a word he never thought he would get a chance to say.

Zoya- Ayaan...stop it..

Ayaan- Well that's the truth...and I'll make it a point to set it in stone...

Zoya- Just stop it will you ..and allah miyaa get the freaking car and pick me up...we need to look for ...she couldn't finish the sentence her tears bullying to fall. She would die, if he did something stupid, hell he would do something stupid..damn him..never knew how to handle his emotions...she thought to herself as she heard Ayaan agree and disconnect the phone.

Finally in the car,Ayaan and Zoya looked at all the places they could think of, Mango sniffing around trying to catch his scent, but nothing came their way. It was past midnight and the city was almost quiet, Ayaan's phone breaking in,making them jump.

Sirji..mujhe saab mil gaye...ji aaap ho sake to aake inhe le jaayie..woh darasal..unki haalat...

Ayaan didn't let him finish the sentence not wanting to hear its end as he sped through the roads, making way to the address his driver gave.

Zoya- Ayaan tell me kya hua..tell me he is Ok..please..Allah miyaan don't u dare hide anything from me.. hearin Zoya's breaking voice agitated Mango,and she barked at Ayaan.

Ayaan- Calm down Zoya and tell Mango to stop with the barking...Asad bhaijaan ko kuch nahi hoga...btw now that I know everything, can you tell me how is Mango so close to bhaijaan..I mean jabse aayi hai tabse Asad bhaijaan ke saath hi rehti hai..I bet she has lived with the both of you..

Zoya- Ayaan please tell me he is fine..n ya she was my birthday gift from Asad on my 20^th ok?? My first birthday gift after...she hesitated...

Ayaan- After what Zoya..

Zoya- Huh..uh..after we got married...she looked away not wanting to bask in the memory.

Ayaan-Oh...I see...damn yaar..Asad bhaijaan never shared..whatever...I guess you had your reasons...I am sorry for being so nosy...I mean aaj meri wajah se..

Zoya- Ayaan please stop...its not your fault..this is all because of what happened 4.5 years ago...u just made him face it again...n u know what..thank u for that...or else ur idiot brother would spend his life avoiding it...not letting it go...Its time now for him to face it all, deal with it and move on.I am done being patient with him. Goddamnit I love him..and its high time he confesss that too...

Ayaan- Woo..thats a new avatar I've never seen...but now I know..what bhaijaan saw in you...damn yaar tu to fataka hai...no doubt Asad bhaijaan fell for you, he has always liked a challenge...He laughed..Narrowly dodging Zoya's smack.

Zoya- Shut up Ayaan..just get to the f*****g place...

Ayaan-Woo calm down...calm down..we are almost there...n please Mango my sweetheart stop with the barking...mein kuch nahi kar raha Zoya ko...

Woof...she agreed finally looking out of the window..her tail ever so slowly starting to wag. Asad was somewhere close..she knew it and as the car stopped her excitement was hard to contain. Zoya got out opening Mango's door next, letting her run, choosing to follow her dog to lead them to Asad.

Asad was sitting on the hood of the car a bottle of whiskey in his hand another empty bottle of vodka thrown away. He was staring at the sky, his face ghostly pale, his eyes red with the unshed tears.

Woof Woof Woof...the bark broke hime out of the trance as he looked down to find Mango trying to jump up the car. He looked away, maintining the postion he was in not caring about anything. Ayaan and Zoya finally made their way to his car, flummoxed by the sight in front of them. Ayaan had never seen his brother in such a state, he knew his brother drank, but Asad never drank in front of his family.

Ayaan-Bhaijaan..

Asad didn't respond, he just kept staring at the stars...

Ayaan- Bhaijaan aap theek to hai?? I mean we all were worried about you..

He still didn't respond.

Asad'

The blink of his eyes stopped midway as he heard her voice. He looked down towards her the pain resurfacing in his eyes, a lone tear sneaking down his eye.

Zoya heart broke looking at Asad, his single tear oozed thorugh her being like acid, burning her. She wanted to run to him and hold him tight, tell him that the nightmare was over, tell him to wake up and start living, but she resisted. She had to take it slow, he had been burned and broken and betrayed and the road to his recovery was needing to go slow. She slowly nudged Ayaan to make a move, Asad was stoic,his eyes glued to Zoya.

Ayaan closed in the distance and timidly held Asad's hand and nudged him to stand;Asad complied. He almost stumbled as his feet hit the ground, the effect of alchol governing his body. He couldn't stand still and finally Ayaan leaned him on his shoulders. Mango's jump stopped with one look from Zoya and she meekly followed them back to the car, Asad's eyes not leaving Zoya for a moment.

Dilshad was pacing around the room when the door opened, Ayaan walking in Asad leaning on his shoulders. Both the ladies ran to Asad, asking a million questions to which Ayaan answered with patience, finally excusing himself wanting to put Asad down on the bed.

Dilshad started to follow stopping in her track when she heard a bark;she turned only to see a dog running towards Asad's room and she knew. Zoya..she thought, just as Zoya stepped in, unsure of her presence.

Dilshad finally saw Zoya after over 6 years her heart overflowing with joy, she couldn't believe her eyes, Zoya was here, she was finally here, she silently thanked Allah.

She took a step towards her only to take it back as all doings flashed before her, making her turn pale, her tears starting to fall. How could she approach Zoya, when she had wronged her as such, how..

But Zoya didn't think as such, instead Zoya felt happy, happy to see her ammi after so long and seeing her almost approach her and then retract back..broke through all her unsurities as she ran to her and hugged her tight.

Dilshad almost stumbled back taken by the sheer force of Zoya's hug, but she was quick to come around, allowing herself to hug Zoya as she registered what that meant. The girls cried it out, hugging each other, their miss you's justified in that moment. Easing out of the hug Dilshad took Zoya's forehead and kissed her, fluchin all of Zoya's burden.

Zoya..meri beti...I uh Iam so..sorr..

Shhh Said Zoya as she put her finger on her lips..

Zoya- Can we please forget all about it?? Ammi.. She hugged her again...making Dilshad cry even more..

Zoya- Ammi..everything will be alright..trust me...filhaal if you don't mind...she gestured towards the direction in which Ayaan took Asad...

Dilshad nodded...her smile resurfacing, her hope resurfacing...as she nodded..and Zoya walked off to Asad's room.
