She opened her eyes to find the sun beating down on her. She raised her hand to block the glare of the sun and slowly looked around. Chandan was lying next to her, white as a sheet. His stillness scared her. She looked around her with shock as she saw miles and miles of desert around.

Their presence in the middle of the desert felt alien, like this was an old movie and they were props left behind, long forgotten there. She saw that she had been stripped of all her jewelry and even her shoes, so had Chandan. She called out to him but he did not hear her.

My mother understands what has happened just by looking at my face but Megha is searching my eyes. Ma goes into get a pooja thali taking the package I hand her. I purposely put on a sad expression faking Megha out. She is saddened but she comes to me and places her head on my heart, her hands holding me in a hug.

"I got it Megha!", I whisper to her. Her eyes round and she holds her fingers to her mouth, her eyes shining and bright with happiness. I lift her high in my arms twirling happily bringing her down and crushing her to me. At last I have broken through.

We straighten up as Ma comes out and puts a tikka on my forehead. She places a tikka on Megha covering her with the saree I have gotten her placing the coconut and shakkar packet in her palloo. As such it is a simple act but in terms of rituals, it is a rokka.

"Babaji! Yeh kya hua Di?", Geet's loud question brings me out of the Dev fog that I have been. Having awoken in his arms in the morning, the day has been like honey flowing in my veins.
