I have grown up watching Amitabh Bachchan,my childhood was incomplete without Cinema and to me Cinema meant Amitabh Bachchan. Muqaddar ka Sikandar, Sholay, Mr.Natwarlal, Namak halal, Laawaris, Coolie, Sharaabi, Satte pe Satta, Trishul, Deewar, Do aur do paanch, Main Aazaad hoon, Hera Pheri, AAA, and even the not so famous Mard, Geraftaar, Shahenshah , to name a few . No other actor had the kind of impact on me other Than Amitabh. He used to make me laugh, he used to make me cry, he used to ENTERTAIN me.

When he decided to Quit films after Khuda Gawah I was depressed. It But it happened Bachchan left bollywood. Thank gawd I eventually found another favourite after Baazigar, but thats another story.

When Amitabh decided to stage a comeback in 1997 ,I was elated. But after films like Mritydaata,Bade miyan Chote miyan, Lal baadshah, Boom, Babul, Eklavya, Hum kisise Kum nahin, KANK, K3G, , Nishabd, Ek ajnabee, Aetbaar, Deewar I feel Where's The Amitabh Bachchan whose comeback I was awaiting! (Khakee and Mohabbatein are exceptions)

Esp Take a look at all his recent films, Eklavya, Nishabd, Babul. Such boring performances. They might be good performance wise but where's the entertainer. Cant believe this is the same Amitabh whose films however crappy they may be, he made them fun with his brilliant performances.

My main complain with Bachchan is why did he loose his Comic streak, that was his trump card. I cant believe Amitabh doesnt have even one good Comic performance since his comeback in 1997.Every time he tried to do comedy he has failed. Like Bade Miyan Chote miyan where he looked like poor man's raju Shrivastav and Govinda took the cake, Hum Kisise kum nahin, even the awful Ajay devgan was better than Amitabh, The OTT and artificial comedy in Waqt, C'mon Charlie crap in Kyun Ho gaya na and the Sexy Sam sh** in KANK. Bachchan looks so fake doing comedy these days. What has happened to him. Where is the Bachchan who was known as the God of Masses.

Masses used to greet Amitabh's appearance on Screen with Whistles, Claps and Cheers. They used to go into raptures when they saw their Idol. I was soo sad to see when I went to see Eklavya Last week and the trailer of Talisman was unleashed during the intermission. The frontbenchers booed off the screen with yawns. Its Shocking but its the truth. they are bored of Bachchan thats because Bachchan bores them these days.

Amitabh has lost one of his most loyal Fan following and that is Masses. And Bachchan himself is responsible for that. Once in a while Serious Dark cinema is good but every friday seeing Bachchan in a new Boring Crap in the name of Quality Cinema is exhausting. There are many other "actors" to do all this. Bachchan is not cut out for such Cinema. He is a Star for the masses. But Bachchan has sadly ignored this fact .

Bachchan era ends with Nishabd. And its no ones fault except the Bachchan himself, he himself is responsible for this pitiful situation.

The actor who was welcomed with whistles, cheers and claps whenever he appered on the screen, is reduced to a joke nowadays. People are seen joking about Bachchan and his forthcoming films. Amitabh never had it soo bad even when he gave disasters like Mrityudaata, lal Baadshah, Kohraam and many others.

And Nishabd further adds to the woes. A disaster follows within 2 weeks of a disaster called Eklavya. I was disgusted with the characater named Vijay in Nishabd which spelt magic in 80's. He has completely tarnished the "VIjay" image after Nishabd. Vijay was one of the most heroic heroes but Vijay in Nishabd is a pervert, a man lacking in self control and a man lacking in Character. Amitabh Bachchan had the potential to turn a dry subject like Nishabd into an engaging film with his histrioinics but today's Amitabh Bachchan added to th woes and made Nishabd a far more boring film it actually is with his same one dimensional act in Nishabd.

I never imagined an actor like Bachchan could bore me. I always ridiculed boring actors like Nasser, Om puri, farroque Sheikh compared to the entertainer called Bachchan. But today they seem better because Bachchan has lost his identity.

The Greatest Entertainers of indian Cinema is nearly dead and we wont get to experience the cinema we expect to see from him with films like Talisman,Cheeni Kum, Alladin.

A depressed AB fan

First of all when MR Amitabh Bachchan decided to quit films after Khuda Gawah i think he did the right thing 👏 ..its aways necessay to retire from your profession with dignity and self-respect..i don't know if many of you r aware or not but a very famous Bengali actress Suchitra Sen who also got many international awards retired from the film indiustry when she was in her 40s and vowed never to come in front of the media again and till today she has kept her promise, she even refused to take the Dadasaheb Phalke award bestowed on her...now coming back to Amitabh Bachchan even he promised never to come back in films after Khuda Gawah and people even though were a bit sad applauded this brave decision of His..
But then he started his Production Company ABCL which failed miserably and he went through a tremendous financial loss;Just to cover up the loss he had no other option but to make his comeback in films..and then he did some below-average movies and also received a huge criticism for it..but thanks to Directors like Yash Chopra and Karan Johar who againhelped BigB to re-establish his career..so basically his comeback in movies was for money-purpose and not any creative-satisfaction
and even today he continues doing whatever movieor ads that comes his way just to again RE-establish his production-company i guess..
now i can't say i hv the same respect for Mr Bachchan as i used to hv during the times of Sholay and Don but i won't purely blame him for choosing sub-standard scripts because he is doing it for money purpose and also he knows that at the age of 65+ he can't b choosy or else he will b out..

now i really hated him im films like Lal Badshah and Hum kissi se kum nahin 🤢 and even KANK 😕 but i don't think his role in Eklavya is bad ..because he is playing the role of a Royal guard who will hv to serve for his malik as well as their decendents even if its Jimmy Shergill..now people may think why BigB hv to stoop himself low in front of a junior actor, then i must say here lies his greatness that he gives more importance to his character and not his Image unlike some other actors..the same can b said about Nishabd also 😊

Let's not forget KBC. 😊

Personally, I feel he has become more of a commodity, starring in every other film and commercials. But I don't blame him, it only goes to show the dearth of quality actors in Indian cinema and the reluctance of the directors to look further.

When the quality is concerned we have actors like Nasseruddin Shah and Om Puri who r even more talented than Big B..but then they don't have the Brand name or the Packaging that Amitabh Bachhan has thanks to directors like Yash Chopra, Karan Johar with whom he had good personal equations due to which he was offered roles in their films and also as u said programmes like KBC which was offered to him at a very cruicial stage in his carrer when critics were writing him off..so those Big Banner movies and the show KBC made him a commodity today and obviously the Producers feel secure in working with him as compared to the likes of Om PURI or Naseeruddin Shah

very sympathetic reply to blame his poor performances on "just doing it for the money". however, stop and consider the fact that good performances would lead to more box office sales which is more money for his company. therefore, he's trying to do his best, but he's just past his prime.

i know it sounds very sympathetic..when i say"just for money"but then thats the harsh reality today, otherwise why he would b doing commertials like Dabour Hajmola and Cadbury and shoe polish ads😕..i don't think he is doing it for creative satisfaction...and now that he has enough films on hand he should stop doing such Ads which stoops his image down in front of his fans..he has enough good films and some political leaders😉 in his hand to save his production house...then whats the need of doing shoe polish ads😕

😆 😆 😆 You're right about the shoe polish ad. 😆 😆 😆

As for Cadbury, the amount they paid (though not disclosed) can be matched by very few. So, as you said it's purely for monetary reasons.
