Why was Lootera declared as a flop?

Hey everyone! How are you all doing? It has been since long time I have posted anything in this section or forum.

I watched Lootera yesterday and I truly loved everything about it! In my opinion a really beautiful movie!
First of all I liked the setting. The colors, dressing, songs etc. everything fell good into the theme of the 50s. The direction and naration was perfectly done!! It was based on art and fine symbols that made it fantastic! It was my first movie of both Ranveer and Sonakshi and in my opinion they did a master job! Sonakshi didn't look fat nor ugly. She was looking great in her attire which was kept indian. Ranveer did his part very well, too. His charater was calm and deep and he did it well!

One special thing was the symbols, the story of Bheel Raj, the leaf and the masterpiece. He said: "I want to draw a masterpiece which the whole world will remember". And he did. He said that no one ever loved him and that they just used him. She was the only one who ever truly loved him as the person he really was. When he drew that leaf at the end, it was to give her hope. But it was symbolicly his masterpiece because he saved her. For him she has become his whole world. His dream became real. Least said all the symbols had a connection.

When you read around the forum the audience want the old kind of bollywood back. Those deep lovestories which was different in their own ways than these masala flicks that in some point are ridiculous. But it is these movies that becomes superhit while deep lovestories become flop? Why and how? What does the audience want? Does it really mean that if a movies doesn't contain colorful masti and masala and bold scenes it wouldn't likely become a hit?

What is your opinion? I feel sad that it didn't become a superhit but I do hope it does well in the awards!

The film should have been made by UTV, atleast better than Balaji.

its a good film , but such films can also be made in a more colorful way.. the director made it completely offbeat.. newas dat doesnt make d film bad, it was a good one ofcourse..

but yes ppl wont pay for a movie which is tragedic but widout any appeal..

it is by far d bets of sonakshi nd ranveer...

True words! Bollywood is, too, little (counting actors and stars) and among those actors there are few stars and it is these stars that set the "trend". If they make a masala flick everyone wants to watch it cause it is the "star" and then audience goes to these kind of movie, while the rest is left behind because they aren't "stars".. that is actually really sad!! Bollywood doesn't rate by talent nor cinema but dance, song and comedy entertainment... - I don't say comedy films are bad but there are also other genres ..

Slow, zero entertainment, deep/grey colors = wasn't all that the theme of the movie? It all played well with eachother and had a connection. For me it was the actual things that made it so beautiful. It was kept inside its theme's limits.
