Lawsuit filed by Karan Johar

Plagiarism is not new to the entertainment industry, but lately it seems to be the ideal way to be in the news. We had big designers accusing lesser-known designers of plagiarism, and we've had directors and music directors accusing other directors and music directors of copying their songs and storylines. But recently, we had one of Bollywood's biggest directors, Mr Karan Johar, coming out with a case of plagiarism against two little-known but yet rising creative personalities.
The two personalties under question go by the name of Swati and Khyati, who are members of the hugely popular India Forums. Recentkly, a topic posted on the forum was about a talk show, "Lassi with Pappu Singh". This talk show was the brainchild of Swati and was hosted by ever-curteous and endearing Mr Pappu Singh also known as Mr Amardeep Huda. As the topic was started, Ms Swati mentioned that it is inspired by Mr Johars chat chow, "Koffee with Karan" and gave due credit. At first,it seemed Mr Johar was highly flattered but as the talk show gained momentum, he turned against his own words. Many famous members continued the talk show, prominent among them was Daisy and Varun.But the biggest blast came when Khyati reported the interview of Pappu Singh with the much-loved Mr Rajeev Khandelwal and the much-hated Ms Ekta Kapoor. The show at present seems to be on a season break,probably due to the exam-fever taking its toll on the creative heads of the show, but it seems the shows success has been so unparalleled that it has compelled Mr Johar to file a lawsuit against the members in question.
When contacted,Mr Johar categorically stated,"I had no prblem with a small fun show,but it has now become a threat to my own long-running show. I have been recieving various e-mails asking me to change the format of my own show. It is utterly absurd! I will not rest until I win this case!" When asked to comment on the success of "Lassi..." all Johar was willing to say was,"There has definitely been some starry astronomical wrok done. Else,it is practially impossible to think how a show which doesn't even start with the letter "K" has reached such heights os success."
However,the creative heads of the sow seemed quite amused with the news. When contacted they said they had no idea of any such lawsuit! "I really don't have any idea how Karan Johar can file a lawsuit against us without us knowing! Swati Dis idea has been hugely successful, and yes she did mention it has been inspred by Mr Johars chat show, but the idea was entirely her own.I just cannot see how anyone can possibly file such a lawsuit!" was the reply Khyati gave when contacted. This was still more understandable then the reply given by Swati. As we informed her of the news,the first thing she did was burst into laughter which subsided after a good two hours. When she was finally in a position to comment,here's what she said, "I really don't know where Mr Johar got the idea that Pappu is him! Unless of course,he wants to relate himself to Pappu, to which I of course have no objection! I'm presently busy, and when I get time, I shall certainely have a talk with Johar, and would even love to call him onto Lassi.." Also,we asked her to comment on te various rumours about how she's madly in love with Mr Pappu,to which she replied, "Mr Pappu is quite rightly the biggest daku I have met in my life! I have absolutely no intention of maintaining any kind of relationship wiith except one which is purely proffessional!"
However,the story seemed to take a different turn when we conacted the actual host himself,Mr Pappu. "Swati is a beautiful girl, and I feel she is deeply in love with me." When informed about what Ms Swati had commented,Mr Pappu merely replied, "A clever girl hides her feelings of love with nafrat! Ab meri Phoolan ko hi dekh lo!" When questioned further about "Phoolan" he said, "Oye..meri Phoolan toh bas meri jaan hai...ek jatt ki soni punjabi kudi!" We later found out that the girl in question is infact Naina Singh Ahluwalia who is currently studying with Mr Pappu at Kanchenjunga Military Academy wherein Mr Pappu is known by the name of Amardeep Huda. At present,Ms Nainas feelings are in a state of tangled confusion as to who she is in love with, and hence she was unavailable for comment on the issue.
The fact which now remains to be seen is,whether Mr Johar will actually file the lawsuit which he's threatening to file,or will he not. Also,various channels have approached Ms Swati and Ms Khyati with offers to telecast their masterpiece with Pappu, offers which they are both still considering. Also, many members of the forum have expressed their wish to see Pappu on TV soon. Yoji, one of the members, recently commented, "Pappu is highly adorable! He's way better than Hua,and I would love to see him TV!" Minnie, another member said, "I greatly enjoyed the first season of Pappu! I love Huda too, so it would be a double-treat if the show is telecast on TV!" With members so enthusiastic about the show,and channels scrambling for this sure TRP-winner, what remains to be seen is where the case will now go. Keep watching this space for more info!
