Men have massive egos and rather CONFIDENT egos. The words above can only be said by a man in two circumstances.
1. The man is a bloated over-confident , self -deceptive wannabe stud who wants to live in an illusion that every girl is waiting under a lamp post to fall in love with him. The Johnny Bravo kinds, you know.
2. The man is perceptive , deep and intense and can see beyond the visible. He says these words only when he sees the sentiment in the eyes of a woman and feels the passion in her heart.
Jalaal , if i have watched the last 80 odd something episodes without falling prey to morphine, is definitely not a Johnny Bravo. He is an old wine from the second bracket. Like we have been saying for so long - Jalaal knows that Jodha does not hate him, that she fought tooth and nail to keep him alive , that her heart is changing. That's the reason he keeps needling and testing her on-guard and off-guard - You care about me? If something happened to me , would it matter to you? ...And you cannot miss his prowling and setting target either - Pamper me. Spoil me rotten. Stay with me. Sleep with me. Look after me. Don't keep me devoid of your touch. Stay in front of my eyes.
And that seed of " She-cares-a-lot-about-me" has been sown and now, Jalaal is waiting or rather working towards turning it into a sapling. That's the reason that when Jodha blatantly lied yesterday with that beaten-to-death Amer-ki-chintaa, Jalaal's lid blew off. Because he knows he is right , because he knows he is reading Jodha right , because he knows he can break and he is breaking through her Rhino skin and melting the edges of her blocks of ice that run in her veins. I know am frickin' right in my inference on you, so stop being Jodha of first 50 episodes, will you?
Today, that mild 'aankhon-ki-gustaakhiyaan' romance becomes a wee bit confrontational , assertive and aggressive. Jalaal, completely in his within-four-walls' ka chhichhora mood ( Sunny calls him Chhichhora and i love it!) actually checks out Jodha like a prowling tiger. And mind you, HIS EXPRESSIONS ARE NO LOVER BOY EXPRESSIONS'. And they are not exactly of admiration either . They are carnal, aggressive and glittered in Jodha's beauty. Hints of Jalaal who is hot to look at , but is not good news in the long run.
Later, as he sits in his Hojraa, a smirking smile playing on his lips. visions of a beautiful Jodha draped in her Rapunzal hair , playing in his head in soft focus sepia tone. He spots her random dupatta lying on the bed , next to him. And he holds it with an open-to-interpretation expression. Jalaal is still in the mystery trance which the viewer can only think he/she understands.
In comes, Jodha , raging and ranting with her full pitaara of "Aap kittne dhoort hainn, Shahenshah" lectures. BUT... SURPRISE! Jalaal cuts short all her bhaashan dialogues and as usual, Jodha has no idea how to handle this cute , carnal and flirtatious Jalaal. Jalaal cheekhe-chillaaye , toh Jodha chudail banke deal kar bhi le... but this soft and sensual Jalaal is too much for her to tackle. Jodha tries to start off with the taana-session - mannerless! characterless! Men are prohibited over there - Hindi nahiin aati? Maan ko toh bade lecture maare the , aab aapka kya karoon?... Jalaal looks up at her and coolly says - " So, what if i came to check you out? Go ahead and punish me.I am more than ready."... Jodha's bhaashan graph gets a shock and starts dipping ... errrm... errr... huh? , No, No, No! Mujhe koi punishment nahiin denni aapko! ... You forgave Maan, i forgive you! Now, let me run and save myself from your sensual horrors. Thank you very much!
But i insist you punish me.- Jalaal.
Arre? Mujhe nahiin karnaa punish aapko! Hadd hai! - Jodha.
And what does Jalaal do? He closes in on her, and like any man would, he senses her instant errm-err-huh? . He smiles and holding her hand , smiles at her Mehendi and confronts her in the most tender manner - Strange. I am your most hated enemy. And when you have a golden chance to punish me , you are walking away... ohh, one second? Is it that you don't hate me anymore? And feelings are walking in?
Jodha , after a careful shock of good 5-10 seconds, jumps back on her Amer ki talwaar and says lo, ye lo dandh aap. Punishment chahiye aapko? Lagaaiye 500 push-ups aur 100 mein hi aapki band bajj jaani hai.
Jalaal abb Jaaveda thode na hai ki apnaa mineral oil nikaal de? He just wanted to get naughty with Jodha and he did exactly that - typical carnal Jalaal style. He cracks a sexual joke on her , threatening to make Jodha beet root red in front of everyone unless she conceded in to his demand. Aur demand? Kucch nahiin... Jodha chhoo le bas aur Jalaal ki zid poori ho jaaye.
So, Jodha, who had come dhan-dhanaaoing inside to give Jalaal a character certificate was massaging Jalaal's shoulders by the end of the session and wondering - " Kitne dhoort hainn ye. Kahaan main inkko sazaa de rahee thi aur abb main hi innki sewaa meinn lagee hui hoon... innka naam Jalaal nahiin, Jallad honaa chaahiye tha." ...
Point being , Jalaal was a prowling tiger , scanning and cornering his prey today while Jodha was a the deer caught in headlights who lost hold on her anger the moment Jalaal smirked at her and said - " Sazaa dijiye humein."
Samajh mein aaya kucch, hmm? Chalo, jaane do, Mystery bhi aakhir koi cheez hai... ya nahiin?
JJ's aankhon-ki-gustaakhiyaan romance during the baraat scene was the stuff that old world romance is made of. This very couple that was ready to claw out each-other's eyeballs the last night , was having a battle of flirtations and suggestive sexual innuendos , is here - playing eye mischief using noses as their toys. They had no idea what the other person was trying to convey , but when explained, they followed the instructions. Such innocence.
Jalaal recalling his wedding rituals and Jodha slightly turning back to look back at him when new Jamaai Saa was being welcomed says a lot. This marriage is for keeps. no matter what JJ are thinking.
Coming to the last part, am not blaming anyone except Shareefuddin. New Sasur uncle only demanded what was committed to him. Bharmal had to take Jalaal's side and he did that. Jalaal was right that how can he hand over something that is a Mughlai Pakwaan? If Jalaal is unable to doubt Shareefuddin , its not his fault at all. One lie from Shareefu is showing everyone in a bad light. Bharmal and Jalaal have no idea who to trust and what to do because this durg crap has come like a thunderbolt from nowhere.
But one thing was definitely not acceptable- New Sasurji talking about Jalaal-Jodha's marriage in derogatory terms and raising an accusing finger on Jalaal's integrity. This just shows that this so called Rajput has no sense of honour at all. What a shame.
Ideally , me being in 2013 , this marriage should not happen but too much water has gone under the bridge, too much is at stake and now, everything has come to honour and Sukanya's life. And going by the aan-baan-shaan of 1500s and how 'kattar' both Mughals and Rajputs were about it , perhaps this marriage will still happen.
Perhaps Jalaal will give away the 'Durg' in seconds, minutes, hours. Not because its about his relationship with Jodha or that he has to do it to impress that chudail of his. He will do it because he is a man of honour and for him , any finger raised at the prestige of Mughal dynasty is the same as a slap on his face. As they say, kucch faisle jazbaat mein nahiin, halaat aur usool ko zehen meinn rakhkar liyye jaate haiin.
Title of the post? Haasil means 'to attain'. Aur aapko nahiin maalum ki humne ye title kyun rakhaa hai?
P.S- The moment of the day has to be Sukanya's emotional gratitude towards Jalaal for being the umbrella in her marriage. Such heart felt words that they made Jodha pensive , and she didn't say a single word in retort. Kaise boltee. Sachh hi keh rahee thi na?
