This is amazing. Very good concept and very interesting. I can't wait to see what actually happened and what made Asad take such a harsh decision. Please continue soon 😊

I don't think that will come as much of a bad news for Zoya as Asad expects to...
She hates her father... she may feel a lil sad but not enough to make Asad happy...
But I wanna know where Zoya was... I refuse to believe what is said literally or take it in the obvious sense... she may have been with a loved one but it is not necessary that loved one must be a love interest... it could be anyone...
Update soon... :)

Chapter - 4

Recollection of Past - Zoya's POV

Time stopped for Zoya when she heard the news coming from the man front of her.

She had been happy at Anwar's birthday party. She had managed to stop the flow of memories from flooding her with grief and had put behind Asad's appearance as an unfortunate coincidence. Anwar had been so happy to see her; he had been so sure that she would skip his birthday because of her busy schedule. But she could never be too busy for him. For them. She loved them with all she had in her heart.

The Madarsa kids. They had become such an integral part of her life during the last years that she could not miss any of the important things in their lives. Especially since she mattered to them in such a special way. She would never forget how they had helped her come out of her grief when she had realized that there were other persons more unfortunate than her.

She certainly had not been expecting a cold "Hello Ms. Siddiqui" coming from nowhere which had made her leapt in fear. When she had recovered from the initial shock, she did not know whether she was more surprised or angry. What was the great enigmatic Asad Ahmed Khan doing at her doorstep at such an hour? She opened her mouth to ask him just that but found she could not utter a word.

And he was mocking her. Again. That mockery was enough to set her back into her normal self. She hated when he looked at her like that. She'd had enough; she would give him a glimpse of the Zoya Farooqui, the ice queen. He would not last a day the poor guy. Trying her best not to let him know how much his gaze was igniting feelings in her which had not aroused since three years, she gave him "the look" and was satisfied when he looked a bit uncomfortable. It was difficult to read him however; she was the one who would know that better than anyone else.

For one year, she had thought that man was in love with her; head over heels in love at that. When all he had wanted to do was to conclude a business deal. A business deal she had been part of. And she had played the perfect fool so well. She had never even doubted his intentions; for her he had been special. The special guy who had not even looked twice at her beautiful and overpowering half-sister, "Tanveer". The one who had chosen her. But once bitten twice shy. She had vowed to herself that if she came across him again in this life, she would show him how strong she was now. How much she had changed and all thanks to him.

However, his abrupt announcement was uncalled for and knocked the breath out of her body. So that was why he was here. He could not wait to tell her the good news; well good news for him. It made some kind of sense. He was here to watch her grieve the death of a man who had caused him the most pain in their lives. He wanted to be the one to see her break down at the news of her beloved father's death. But he was in for a surprise. Zoya had no affection whatsoever for her father. Not after the man had treated her in the worst way possible.

She hated her father with as much vehemence as Asad hated him. Not that her so called ex-fianc was aware of that fact. He had the misconception that she was close to her father. She could not blame him; she had never been willing to talk about her family with him. Gaffur Siddiqui was a man who lied with each breath he took. He would not hesitate to lie to his own child for his own benefit.

As she watched Asad looking at her expectantly waiting for her to break down, she sneered at him. "Is he now?" she asked in a cold voice devoid of any emotion.

Asad let out another mirthless laugh. "Not what I have been expecting but I must say you are full of surprises. I am starting to like this Zoya much more than the love-struck docile one I had known."

Anger coursed through her and at that moment she felt so out of control that she had to get a grip of herself. She wanted to slap the disdain out of his face. But she was sure that it was what Asad was after. He was trying to provoke a reaction from her so that she lost her control and did something she might regret. And then he would goad her and torture her like a predator did to its prey before killing it. But she was damned if she would show him that she cared this time.

"Oh really? I'm sooo flattered. But you know what? I can't believe that you would come all the way from Bhopal to announce me the news of my father's death. I'm touched, Mr. Khan. Really." She was mocking him and he was furious. She could see clutching his fists and change of emotion in those dark brown eyes.

"Are you going?" he finally asked. Zoya was speechless again. So he was also determined not to show her how affected he was. As for her going to the burial, well of course she would be going. He had been her father after all, no matter what he had done or been. Besides, Razia her step mother was also no more. So she had no reason not to attend the funeral.

She shrugged, "Off course."

"Fly with me," Asad asked her making her feel surprised again.

"Why the hell would I do that?" she asked genuinely surprised and not bothering to hide it this time.

He smiled and said, "Why?? Are you afraid??? "

"Oh hell NO. You are no one to me Mr. Khan so I am not afraid of you. Now will you please excuse me?"

With that, she tried to move pass him to get into an elevator and finally close "The Mr. KHAN" chapter of life. In so doing however, she did not realize how closely she had moved passed him and when she turned round to see if he was gone, she saw elevator door closing with ASAD in it with her.

She saw a clear emotion in his dark brown eyes, exactly the same way she had seen all those years ago. Desire. For her. That desire had always been real. There was no denial of that. It flared between them raging their inner senses and rendered them both helpless. It was that fact which had made her believe all the other nonsense he had fed her at that time. Because the chemistry between them had been so flagrant that anybody could feel it.

Zoya. He whispered her name and she felt drawn to him like a moth to a flame. No no no. This could not be happening to her. Not again. Not after she was cured of him. She never knew who made the first move but she was in his arms within seconds and she felt his hands caressing her back. Millions of sensations sizzled through her at the place he was caressing through T-Shirt and her mind was blocked. It was as if she was incapable of any coherent thought.

Nothing had changed between them. It had always been like that; at least for her. She had always been a sucker Asad Ahmed Khan. Even after he had broken her heart, even if he had left her on day of their NIKAAH.

At that, she took a step back when their lips were inches apart, just before his lips descended on her.

"I am so over you Asad Ahmed Khan."

He smiled cynically. "Really? I would never have believed it some seconds ago when you were in my arms."

"I wasn't the only one down there," she retorted back.

"Yeah. I want you. Still," he revealed boldly. "And you want me too."

Zoya could not deny that fact. It was as obvious as the sun in the sky. But that does not mean she had to give in to her desire. "Yes," she admitted in turn. "Well, I guess we will have to live with that curse all our life."

With that last reply thrown to his face, she whirled back freeing herself of his embrace and sprint outside the elevator and went inside her flat before he could retain her back.

After her phone call to Uncle Feroz, she confirmed the news of her father's death. Not that she had doubted it.

Zoya sat down on her bed and tried to gather her wits. The funeral was to be held tomorrow at ten thirty. She booked her tickets on a 7 am flight to Bhopal. It was already 2.30 am. She had only 2:30 hours left to leave for airport; and by the look of it, she would not be getting any sleep.

Sighing, she was still deciding what to do when it hit her that her father was dead. Not that she was grieved but she was sad. He was after all her father. And whatever she had felt for him, he was dead. She was now an orphan.

Nobody had bothered to phone her to announce her that her father was dead. Not that she blamed them, the last time she had left that place, and she had made sure no one had her phone or address. And no one had really bothered to track her down. She'd already known that fact anyway; no one really wanted her around then and so when she was gone, she was good riddance. To her step mother Razia, her half-sister Tanveer and to her father.

It had been an enormous relief to her father when she had left the Siddiqui mansion to leave for Mumbai. She could still remember 3 years ago when Asad had opted out of marriage, she had been so stunned. She had never expect that he would do something like that, gullible fool that she had been.

Hers had been a typical Cinderella story, a wicked step sister and an even more wicked step mother. Not that she had felt sorry for herself at that time. No she had been grateful to be having a family because her father had told her that he had an affair with her mother, Zainab' and that Razia had accepted his bas***d child. For that Zoya had been grateful to Razia, at least she had not been brought up in an orphanage. She had a father, a mother and a sister.

For the twenty one years of her sorry life, she had believed that story being fed to her, leaving her to be only the shadow of her half-sister. Tanveer was the spoilt one having every whim that a teenager could ever have. And her father doted on her like the perfect father, not wanting to anger his beloved wife most probably.

Zoya had been the one who had to work to pay herself a holiday after she had completed her first year of college. That holiday which had been supposed to make her unwind from the stress of her studies but instead where she had met ASAD AHMED KHAN for the first time. Something she had thought at that time was the most marvellous thing that could happen to a girl, the most romantic setting that she could ever have imagined for herself.

To top it all, the attraction between them had been instantaneous; they had been giving each other sultry looks towards the bar of the hotel. It was then that Zoya had decided to talk to him, to make the first step. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

And she had never felt like that for anyone else before and even after he left her.

Usually, guys around her had eyes only for Tanveer as she had been the one in the limelight all the time. Her sister had that outgoing personality which had made her famous and everybody knew her as Tanveer's mousy sister.

Therefore, she had played the role that had been attributed to her without asking for it, she had been the shy and silent one. Nobody had known her real nature and she had thought that her holiday would help her be the one she really wanted to be. The one she actually was.

So unaware of the things going on his head, she had approached him trying to calm the million butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

"Hi," she greeted with a sincere smile then stopped short at a loss of words. What was she supposed to say after that? She hesitated. It was really not her nature to make such a blatant advance to someone of the opposite sex. But nobody had made her feel that way too and she had decided to meet new people during that particular trip.

Thankfully, he did not seem to take it too personally as he greeted her back. "I am Asad, Asad Ahmed Khan."

She giggled and said, "Bond, James Bond" and she laughed again. "Wait, Khan? You mean THE ASAD AHMED KHAN?" She knew Dilshad Enterprises owned by Rashid Ahmed Khan and his son Asad Ahmed Khan were among the ones her father used to mention at the dinner table to Razia and if her father found that something was worth mentioning, it must be something really grandiose.

She swallowed as he nodded his head. What had she been thinking? For her, it had been an escapade from her routine, but this holiday must have been a usual occurrence for rich guys like him.

"So is this the first time you are visiting New York?" he asked her politely.

And she nodded sceptically not knowing what he would be making out of her, not knowing how he would turn out to be. She had feared that he was a Tanveer's male version.

He grinned at her nod and answered a "me too" which had been too cute to resist.

So she introduced herself as Zeenat Siddiqui, not wanting to be the one she had been all her life. She was trying to be someone else, so why not go for another name. He seemed surprised by the name she gave him but she didn't make much of it. He must be picking on her last name because that name was as famous as his.

Her father was one of the most influential business men of the Bhopal. His next question confirmed her doubt.

"Siddiqui? As in THE Siddiqui?" And she couldn't help bursting out laughing. It was then that she saw the eyes. He looked at her with and his brown eyes darkened.

His next question went unheard as she was still watching his eyes. "I am sorry?" she said blushing to the roots of her hair when he waved a hand in front of her face. "I.. I.. was watching your eyes, they're unbelievable."

He grinned at that compliment his laughter lines visible at the corners of his eyes. "Why, thank you Miss Siddique."

"Zeenat, please."

He lifted a glass in acknowledgement and Zoya was realizing that she was making him uncomfortable by staring at him in such a foolish way. She blushed again feeling her cheeks warm as her heart pounded at a quicker pace.

"I am sorry," she said recovering from her poise blushing again till she was beetroot red.

"No problem," he said and what he said next blew her out of her mind. "You are quite lovely yourself Miss Siddique."

Was he flirting? How could a guy like him flirt with her? She was plain, throughout. Her dress sense was okay because she was studying fashion but apart from that there was nothing worth looking. She was too thin to be called sexy and her hair was shoulder length which shone when she brushed them but was now styled in a neat ponytail, like always.

So she wondered why someone like Asad was flirting with her. Not that she was ugly but she was no heart stopper. She was a simple girl, had always been. No make-up, no artifice. Usually, nobody spared a second glance in her direction. So it was really surprising that someone like HIM would flirt with her. Maybe he was really bored in this place and was looking for some distraction.

What the hell. It was what she had wanted after all. Break her boring routine and find herself some memories, some memories she could cherish all her life. So she decided to play along.

"Thank you, Mr. Khan."

"Now that is so unfair. I get to call you Zeenat and I'm still Mr. Khan to you. Please call me Asad, all my friends do."

"Asad," she repeated savouring the name in her mouth.

He smiled and Zoya noted that the smile didn't quite reach his eyes. He looked somewhat troubled, as if he was still making a decision about her. He could not decide whether to continue to talk to her or to turn his back to her.

Suddenly Zoya got it. He wanted to get away; she was the one imposing on him. After all, she had been the one who had approached him.And he must be used to women falling for him at first sight. He was so good looking that she was sure he must be having a line of admirers back in Bhopal

And above all that, he was rich. If she was to think like Tanveer, he would be the catch of the year.

The century even.

Feeling discomfited, she smiled politely at him and put down her glass of juice.

Zoya - "Well, see you around then, Asad," she tried to sound casual and sophisticated and turned round leaving him with his thoughts.

She felt a hand grab her elbows and she was spun round with such force that she let out a gasp. He looked angry and his eyes looked more than brown now. Her heart was beating so fast now that she was out of breath. His nearness was driving her crazy, a feeling she could not understand. It was like feeling him through every pore of her body.

Zoya feared that she would not be able to handle this attraction she seemed to be having for the man. Maybe it was because she was in her holiday mode; she had to be very very careful.

AAK - "Have dinner with me tonight?"

She gulped and tried a simple okay which came out as a croak.

How sophisticated she admonished herself and tried something else but nothing came out.

Thankfully, Asad only nodded and moved back as if he was burnt. With a curt "see you tonight", he disappeared again and Zoya stood there clutching her heart trying to ease her erratic heartbeats. As she did now standing in her bathroom as memories flooded her heart, hurting her like they had always done for the past years.
