There was a BIG blooper in kzk abt the whole Kanyadaan Vidhi today.

Prerna isnt around so everybody says- now who'll do the kanyadaan? and then stupid mohini says 'anu and sam will do it'.

Well just wanted to clarify that in hindu religion, 'kanya' means daughter and 'daan' means giving away. so kanyadaan is -parents giving away the daughter to her husband. but it is not necessary that father and mother both hv to be present to do it. in case mother is not present at the venue, father can simply do it ALONE.

while usually mothers dont do it alone, now even mothers can do kanyadaan alone, if father is not physically present at the venue. so there ws no need for anu's mom to say that 'anu and sam will do it', because bajaj cud hv done it alone. i dont know why they show our traditions in such distorted manner. even in case a girl's mother is dead, the father does kanyadaan alone. It was so lame - the whole 'anu and sam will do kanyadaan' thing, when bajaj was present at the venue.

I mean- i am all for anu and sam doing kanyadaan. bajaj-prerna did it in first marriage of sneha, anu-sam cud hv done this time, then if sneha decides to follow anu's culture of 4 marriages, bajaj-prerna will do it in her 3rd marriage, anu-sam in 4th, etc. 😆.

but ekta shudnt show our wedding rituals incorrectly. 😡

Yeah, prerna's presence was not soooo important. I mean, it is always nice to have the bride's mother around, but the father can do all rituals alone as well.

maddy, 'muhurat' is a particular time which is considered auspicious. Thus, for important tasks like getting married, launch of a new business, etc., ppl first find out the auspicious time and do the task at that time so that everything goes well!

The experts arrive at these specific timings i.e. muhurat, by studying the movements and positions of planets and stars in the universe. The idea is to find out the impact of natural physical forces and find the time when they are most favourable for a particular task. It's part of hindu astrology. There is a fascinating science behind it. I plan to study it in detail smtime later..

Neha for kanyadaan both father and mother should be present!
😉
THat's the ritual...otherwise the bride's older brother or sis with their spouse do the kanyadaan.
