I love big fat Indian weddings - Sonakshi Sinha
There's an old world charm about Sonakshi Sinha. It's as though she belongs to the '80s world of curvy and super hit heroines. The old school approach works for her best and it even shows in her jewellery choices. She loves the combination of gold and diamonds. And she's a stickler for solitaires. Sonakshi believes in the age-old adage that money invested in gold is money invested well. So as the gold price skyrockets, so does Sonakshi's charm. She's the perfect example of the good ol' Indian lady, graceful and perfectly poised. In a candid mood, she reveals secrets about her jewellery fascinations.Safe bets I like to go with minimal when jewellery is concerned. I stick to solitaires most of the time. In fact, my first precious buy was a pair of solitaires. But if the occasion demands, I like traditional uncut diamond jewellery.
For work it's practical to wear costume jewellery to avoid loss or damage. But for personal functions and events, real ornaments make for a great choice. Also, at work I prefer to wear just a pair of earrings. I still lament the fact that I lost a pair of solitaires on a film set. It was only my second film so they were worth half my remuneration. The thought still pinches me.
Personal assets
I only started investing in jewellery last year. Not only do diamond and gold make for a sound investment but to complement most outfits. So I own a few pieces. I usually wear my mother's (Poonam Sinha) jewellery. Sometimes my friends who are stylists like accessorising me as well.
Gifting ideas
I also cherish the gift presented to me by my parents on my birthday two years back - a pair of emerald chandelier earrings!
I have solid ideas about an heirloom. My mother has a beautiful gold and uncut diamond set, which I've been eyeing for a while. Also, if I were to be gifted something, it would have to be a huge diamond ring.
I'd love a simple and fuss-free wedding. And of course my parents, advice would have top priority. My dream wedding would be on the beach with my family, closest friends and colleagues.
I love the idea of a destination wedding. That would mean keeping the unwanted guests at bay and ensuring that only those closest to me are present. It could be in Maldives or Bali.
A beach place for sure!
My girl gang, my closest friends who I've known from school and college and who have stuck with me throughout, would be my bridesmaids.
My Favourite designers are Shantanu and Nikhil, Manish Malhotra and Shane and Falguni Peacock. But I don't know who I would go for.
I'd never turn into a bridezilla even if there are millions of hectic preparations. I'd make sure that I have finished off all my pending film projects.
I love the big fat Indian wedding, but for my own wedding I'd prefer to keep things simple and sweet.
