AarYa OS
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa
Aarti was upset with Yash. The reason was unknown to Yash and he kept wondering how to break the ice of this cold war that she had started. It was impossible for him not talk to his wife or not to hear her talk.
Talking here has many connotations for you all to guess!
He kept following her right through her activities in the kitchen while she sent the kids off to school. Gayatri was off to the temple and Yash was so thankful that the elders in the Scindhiya mansion followed these traditions meticulously leaving him with the much needed time and privacy to win over his angry and fuming wife --- his life!
Aarti kept brushing him aside as he tried to hold her hand. She wasn't in any mood this time to forgive him.
Yash --- poor guy then finally came up with an idea. He extended a paper to her and it had the following words written.
Please speak in just two words ---- not more
Just a "Yes" or a "No".
Aarti read it and smiled checking carefully that her husband did not catch her doing so.
She nodded.
Yash: Are you angry with me?
Aarti: Yes.
Yash: But why?
Aarti did not answer as a "Yes" or "No" would not have made any sense for this question.
She continued with her work and then proceeded to their room.
Yash followed her and then said: Would you like to come out shopping today with me?
He emphasized on the word----me --- to see if she was fine with going out with him.
She said: Yes.
Yash thought: I expected this answer as all women love to shop. Good --- now I can somehow get her some gifts and then cool her off.
Aarti quickly got ready and waited for Yash to take her out.
They both came down and saw Gayatri there.
Gayatri: Where are you two going now? Yash beta, don't you have office? I thought you had some important work today?
Yash quickly pulls his mother to a corner and says: I've got a greater task to achieve at home. Your bahu needs my attention. She hasn't spoken to me since last night.
Gayatri: But that is good Yash ---- isn't it? Most husbands complain of nagging wives and it is better if they don't talk.
Yash now did not know how to tell his Mom what he meant by "talking" over here.
Yash: No Ma, but I love it when Aarti talks to me.
He smiled as he said these words and quickly whisked her away on his little date to make her happy.
He knew that was the only way he would be happy too.
They went to a mall and everywhere Aarti kept her word to a "Yes" or "No" and nothing more in her answers.
Yash tried his best in asking her about the colour of the saree she wished to buy and so on but she would not answer anything more than a "Haan" or "Naa".
Yash finally walked her into a jewellery showroom and showed her some beautiful stuff. Aarti was so thrilled at all the attention she was getting.
He got her some exquisite stuff and then they went out for lunch too.
But it was a different lunch outing.
No talking. Except for the "Haan" or "Naa"
Yash: Care for some soup?
Aarti: Yes.
Yash: Indian or Chinese?
Aarti remains silent.
Yash was getting impatient now.
Yash: Chinese?
Aarti: Yes.
Somehow they ate and Yash had put so many calls on hold that day only trying to please his wife somehow or the other.
They returned home and Gayatri saw the many gifts that Yash got for her.
Gayatri: Aarti, you are so lucky.
Yash: No Ma, I am the one who is lucky to have such an adorable wife.
Isn't it, Aarti?
Aarti: No.
She then walked into her room. The kids were yet to come home.
Yash followed her and finally couldn't take it anymore.
Yash: Aarti, are you still angry with me?
Aarti: Yes.
Yash: Please Aarti, I've left all my work only to make amends for whatever mistake I might have made and I am not even aware of it. Please talk to me.
Saying this he pulled her towards him.
Aarti avoided looking at him.
Yash: Won't you talk to me?
Aarti: No.
Yash held her face and said softly: Okay, may I kiss you?
Aarti: No.
Yash (naughtily): Do you want to kiss me?
Aarti found this very strange and she blurted out: What kind of a question is this?
Yash: Finally you spoke dear. I had to find a way to make you speak.
Aarti got angry and left again from the room.
Yash quickly found some time and finished his official work over the computer and phone and finally during dinner time he decided that enough was enough.
The kids ate happily but Yash had a grumpy face.
Aarti came to serve him his food and he placed his hands over his plate not talking to her just as she did the whole day.
Aarti: Shall I serve some sabzi?
Yash: No.
Aarti: Then what will you have your rotis with?
Yash remained silent.
The game had got reversed now. He was answering in "Yes" and "No".
Aarti (softly): Are you angry with me?
She made sure that no one except Yash could hear this.
Yash (loudly): Yes.
Aarti felt bad.
Finally somehow he ate something when Gayatri forced him to and they were back to their den.
The place where all things had to be sorted --- their cozy room!
Aarti went near Yash.
Aarti: Sorry Yashji, I shouldn't have been the way I was today.
Yash wasn't interested.
He lay down on the bed and turned his back towards her.
Aarti: Actually shall I confess something Yashji. All my "No"s were actually "Yes"
Yash thought for a moment.
He then got up and gathered all the gifts and said: Good you haven't opened the packs then ---- we can return them because your "Yes" must have meant "No".
Aarti slowly went up to him and said: My "No"s were "Yes" and my "Yes"s were "Yes" too.
Now Yash had to wrack his brain on which answers were "No" from Aarti.
I want you all to find out that for yourself by re --- reading the story.
He was happy --- very happy at the "No"'s of Aarti.
