Wedding pow-wow! By: Vickey Lalwani February 28, 2007
Bakhtyaar has come up with an innovative idea for his wedding card
Bakhtyaar Irani and Tanaaz Lal
Come March 16, Tanaaz Lal and Bakhtyaar Irani will get married at Some Place Else, Andheri. The wedding will be conducted in a Parsi ceremony at 5.30 pm, followed by a grand reception at the same venue.
Nearly 450 people, including a large number of personalities from the entertainment industry, will attend the reception.
Beating the odds
In the early days of their courtship, the couple faced stiff opposition from their families.
The bone of contention was the age difference between them (Bakhtyaar is younger by a decade), and Tanaaz is also a divorcee with a teenage daughter. Defying the odds, the couple began living together and their family finally came around.
At the wedding, Tanaaz will wear a traditional white sari, while Bakhtyaar will don the white dugli and setaa. Reza Sharif, who struck a friendship with the couple during Nach Baliye 2, has designed the ensembles.
The couple says they chose Some Place Else primarily because it allowed them to get Parsi food and club it with their Indian dishes. "So it's going to be Parsi plus Indian cuisine," says Bakhtyaar.
Honeymoon travels
The couple is particularly excited about the funny cards that they've readied as wedding invitations. "We're seen in a boxing match as cartoon figures.
It was Bakhtyaar's idea," gushes the bride-to-be. The couple might even do a jig Nach Baliye style after the wedding rituals are over.
Honeymoon plans have still not materialised. "Right now, we are busy with work. More importantly, Tanaaz will be producing a Hindi play in association with Dinyar Contractor.
Also, we've signed a contract with Lawrence D'souza for shows across India. So we haven't decided when and where we'll go. But you can be sure it will be an exotic honeymoon," Bakhtyaar signs off.
I knew she had a teenage daughter... hehe, I've met her... she's an absolute darling... but Bhaktiyaar.... is kinda wierd... His comments abt how he dropped her coz she didn't do the step right kinda got me irritated... But nevertheless, I hope they do well in life, they deserve it!
