NOTE: Apart from Geet, Shreya's father n Maan nobody knows that Jia isn't Maan biological daughter. Not even Maan's family members including Dadimaa. If Dadimaa knew she would have told Geet about Jia right after marriage n there wouldn't be any confusion regarding Jia then. But she doesn't know. For Maan Jia is his own in every way possible.
She is my daughter. Maan said on top of his voice, his eyes alight with anger. And you saw she doesn't want you. She will be with me. You hear that?
Jia's grandfather seemed like he was swallowing his words, hardly. His teeth were gritted, at any cost he was going to meet his Jia today even if it meant fighting his way to her. She was a part of his daughter n he had every right on her.
Aap Jia se mil sakte hai. It was Geet's low voice breaking the silence and shocking everyone like chilled water thrown on face.
What are you saying? Maan roared unable to believe that she was allowing this man to meet their daughter when his main aim was to take Jia away from them.
Geet leveled her husband with a stare. Mai inse akele me baat karna chahti hu.
The hell you are. You are not talking to anyone.
Please Maan bas ek baar. His whole body went tight as a string as he released a furious breath out. Sirf thodi deer. Dadimaa came forward. Agar wo keh rai hai toh unhe ek mauka de dijiye beta.
Maan gritted his teeth n looked at Geet's pleading face. Just 5 minutes. He allowed n Geet ushered Shreya's dad to one the rooms n closed the door. She didn't know what she would tell him and if would understand. As she turned towards the old man in the lonely room he didn't seem so intimidating rather looked vulnerable n... fatigued. He also seemed twitchy for some reason. Thank you for giving me a chance to speak.
What do you want to say? If it's another of your tricks to keep me from my granddaughter then am not falling for it.
No. It's no trick. And you can meet Jia anytime you want. You can come here n see her, play with her. When she has grown up a bit n both Maan n Jia are ready for it, you can even take her out.
Shreya's dad knotted his brows. Who are you to allow me that? She is my blood I have right on her. She will stay with me. Maan is nobody. He killed my daughter n I won't let him do that to Jia.
Geet's voice was heavy as she spoke. I know Jia is not Maan's.
Surprise was evident on Shreya's dad's face. For some reason Maan hadn't told anyone that Jia wasn't his own daughter, not even his Dadimaa knew. Some hidden motive had to be behind it. May be he didn't want the world to know about his marital failure but in the end Shreya was the one who slept with some other man behind Maan's back. He could have brought it out n nobody would have said a word to him while Shreya's character would have been tarnished in the most brutal way, forever, irrespective of her horrific end. And Jia would become an illegitimate child. How do you know?
Shreya. She told me.
A gasp left his mouth. You knew her?
Yes. She was... a friend. It was her last wish that Jia stay with Maan.
I don't believe you.
But you have to. I know she herself told you that Maan wasn't Jia's father before her death. She told me everything, the guy's name was Anuj. His legs failed him as tears came into his eyes; he dropped on the chair, holding his face into his palms looking so very old. Jia won't be able to live without Maan. And Maan... he loves Jia more than his own life. He can't see a tear in her eyes. Me too... I will take care of her like my own. I love her a lot. And that was true. Geet wasn't Jia's biological mother but it surely felt like the little angel was her part. Jia had made a home in her heart. She held so much happiness n love inside her tiny form. Geet could never forget how she had accepted her as mother without any conditions or doubts or questions. Jia would never know we are not her real parents. Maan almost doesn't believe he isn't her father. And you can meet her... every time you want. Just don't try to take her away from us.
Why are you doing this? Why are you letting me meet her? Why are you accepting her?
Geet closed her eyes; words from the letter swam on the screen of her closed lids, filled with so much blinding pain. She could connect with Shreya. Their story was somewhat same. At a point of time Geet had also thought Maan didn't love her. And she knew how that felt. She thought he loved Shreya, wanted her and after that came the period of sheer agony. The difference was Geet didn't have to see it while Shreya saw him loving someone else every day, every second. Tears ran down Geet's cheek but her voice was even. Because I know it wasn't her fault and you are her father. I understand. I have lost loved ones, I know.
Shreya's dad broke down completely; tears n small sobs made their way out making Geet feel sadder n sorry. Uncle aapko rona nai chahiye. He shook his head. I am sorry. When Geet knotted her brows he looked up. I was one who hired that assassin to shoot Maan. Her hand flew to her heart, legs freezing. When I heard the bullet hit you... I... I am sorry. He was carrying the weight since long. That was why he later didn't try to get Jia but his heart was craving for her n in the end he came to-if not anything else-then see her.
Maan could have died n Jia... she could have been shot.
I didn't know he was going to do the job with you both around. If I had known... I shouldn't have done that. I just wanted to save her. Mai nahi chahta tha Jia ke saath bhi wahi ho jo Shreya ke saath hua. I saw her paining for Maan n dying before my very eyes. I tried so much... so much to separate her from the pain, from Maan. But she wasn't ready. And she left. The sorrow killed her n I couldn't even claim her last part, her daughter. I couldn't even tell anyone anything. That would ruin my daughter's name. I always felt Jia was living with her mother's murderer n while I stayed at home trying to get her away from him something would happen to her too. That I wouldn't be able to save her either. I am so sorry. I am sorry I... did that.
No harm has been done.
You were shot.
And survived. We all get selfish, make mistakes, and think otherwise. It happens. Shreya's dad was amazed. The girl before him was young but seemed like she had seen the whole world, she held mass of colossal experience in her eyes to an extent that it was frightening. To him it felt she knew n understood him more he understood himself.
Mai-
The door opened. I hope all talks are done. Maan said crowding the doorway with his presence. His eyes registered Shreya's dad's condition. Hairs tousled, eyes puffy, shoulders sagged. He looked like he had been in a war. He stood up on shaky legs n stared to walk out unable to meet Maan's eyes. Nakul will take you to Jia's room. Geet said n the man's eyes widened as though he didn't expect that. Maan didn't either and he was going to object with full force when Geet held his hand as Shreya's dad walked away.
How can you let him meet Jia? I am going to-
Jia is his granddaughter. I am her father.Maan growled. Of course you are. She cupped his face. Par unka bhi haq banta hai na? He has lost his daughter. He married Shreya to me. Did he know you didn't want to marry?Maan was tongue-tied. I don't know. I don't think he knew. Otherwise he wouldn't have gotten her daughter married to you. He loves Shreya. Think like a father. Maan looked down at her face. Hell!! How she became so much mature n sensible. What if... he tried to take her away? I can't live without- He wouldn't n if he would we won't let him. But at least he can meet her.
Maan tried to be sensible too and stay downstairs while Shreya's dad was upstairs with his granddaughter though he couldn't hold on for long. May be that man was filling Jia's ears against him. Shit! She could start hating him. He rushed upstairs n Geet followed him only to stop outside the room seeing Jia showing her nanu some of her incomprehensible drawings. The little girl had been wary n tentative at first but when Shreya's dad carefully explained that he wasn't there to take her away from her Daddy she eased up.
Nanu brownlate laaye. Jia ran to Maan showing the chocolate in her hand and he picked her up. Shreya's dad came forward. I will come again. He turned towards Geet passing a shaky, silent word of gratitude before leaving.
The following night Geet turned around n saw Maan's face while he slept. With her thumb, she smoothened the worry lines on his forehead. He wasn't that much happy with the authority Geet had taken over Jia's concern with her grandfather yet the way he tried to understand her approach was admirable. He was an exceptional man and human being. The best thing was he loved her n now with all his might was trying to get over their past n not commit the mistakes they had done earlier.
Something else was on his shoulders, though, the weight except for the Jia's grandfather issue earlier in the morning. Although, he kept the balance, since last few days she had been seeing him working intensely on something. He came back home on time but left early in the morning n worked late night in his study. Today also he came late to bed. Maan also didn't share about whatever project he was working on that kept him on his toes. Maybe... maybe it was related to her professed family. She shivered. They were cruel n dangerous. Maan shouldn't have gotten involved with them n also Meera. She could lose them altogether n...
Geet wrapped her hand around Maan's waist, sticking her body against his side, her breasts flattening into his arms. She hid her face into his neck. Maan shifted in sleep n draped an arm around her. How will she keep them safe? She couldn't even tell police about what was done to her or her parents. She softly kissed his neck n Maan woke up opening his dark eyes. He moaned n kissed her cheek. Why aren't you sleeping jaan?
Maan, will you tell me one thing honestly? Hmm. Do you think... that am a coward? Maan tilted her face up so he could read it. I am sorry. I am probably adding onto your worries. You already look so tired. Maan sat up switching on the night lamp. He pulled her close wrapping her up in the warm coat of his body. Geet understood instantly that now they were going to have a good night talk. Another thing that Maan had decided on was the concept of talk it out'. Everything and anything. The communication gap had been their worst enemy n he was in no mood for it to take birth again. I am only worried when you are worried. If you really want to relieve me, relieve yourself. He brushed his lips against hers. Chalo ab batao what is wrong?
Bas... aapko lagta hai mujhe police ko sab batana chahiye tha ya phir Meera ko? Mai chahti thi ke unhe saza ho, unhone mama aur papaji ko... par phir bhi mai kabhi keh nai payi. Unn dino ke bare me sochte hi- aapko lagta hai isme mera kasoor hai? Ke mujhe unke against step lena chahiye tha?
Maan thought about it and the clear answer that came to him was that his Geet wasn't a coward, she was rather scared. God knew how much he was fearsome to hear that cassette and what went through him while doing so n she had lived it. Even after that the scars that remained were not only physical but ran so much deeper. She had been mentally sick. And he had seen how still-after so many years-the nightmares shook her like it was her end. Nai. You are not a coward. You don't know Maan. I tried so many times to kill myself when Meera was there with me. I could have told everything to police n fight against those people.
It's not a movie Geet. Other would say you could have done this n that but it's not easy. What you went though only you know. It wasn't like you didn't love your parents n hated those ill-souls any less than I n Meera do. In fact you hate them the most. Yet if you didn't do anything doesn't mean you are coward. You are brave because in end you survived and you still love others. You care for Meera, Rajendra uncle, our family, Jia n me. And am not saying this because I love you but because I think coming above the past was your real fight Geet n you won it, didn't you? Geet nodded slowly feeling better, good. And you still have a chance to get your revenge. Matlab? You will have to give the judge your testimony against Ranjeet n others. You think... I can do that. Of course you can. You don't have to say it all just in brief and it would be in private in front of judge, maybe 1-2 other officials. I will make it as easy for you as possible. Geet managed a weak smile trusting him so much that she wasn't afraid to show him her weakness. Will you be there? Haan jaan. I will be there with you.
They both slept after sometime and next morning Maan again left for office. However he had a big, secretive smile the whole morning n Geet though tried to poke out the reason behind the sudden lift of his disposition Maan didn't budge.
When Geet woke up from her siesta later in the evening, Jia's face was on her stomach. After waking up Geet often found Jia like that with her face close to her stomach. Sometimes she even heard soft whispering, but Jia never revealed what she was doing. What's going on there? Jia jerked up, her already big eyes getting moon size. Caught, she pressed her pink lips together n rubbed her temple like Maan. Geet felt like biting her chubby cheeks. I was talking to bhai. Bhai? How do you know it's a boy? It could be a girl too. Nai. She sucked her upper lip. Bhai hi hoga. Jia want bhai so that I put rakhi on his hand. Jaise Annie Daddy ko karti hai.
Geet smiled. So what were you telling him? Jia grinned stupidly biting her nail. That's a cret. She said n crawled off the bed running out of the room. Geet wondered what that cret' meant, probably secret? She laughed n Rohan came into the room. Geet how do I look? She got off the bed n looked at him from head to toe. Hot n sexy yet utterly classy. Adjusting his tie she told. Rohan showed a thumbs-up. You should train Shanaya, you know? Naah, no training can make anyone like me?She stuck her tongue out and Rohan smiled, inwardly incredulous n happy that she was showing so much of good transformation. Shame you are already married. Geet patted his shoulder with fake pity on her face. Where are you off to? On a date. Rohan winked. He looked at his watch. I should rush Shanaya would kill me if I got late even by a second. Chao babes. He ran out in kind of same manner as Jia n Geet shook her head.
All Khuranas were mad. Oops, wasn't she herself a Khurana. She looked herself in the mirror n couldn't stop grinning. The inner happiness was in full bloom. Geet caressed her tummy. Had good sleep baby? She asked then observed her reflection. The dark circle were fading, only shadows of them left behind that she could hide with mild make up. There was pink glow on her face and she had gained a decent amount of weight. Her breasts were tender n swollen under her clothing n skin ever so sensitive. And with every new day she was falling more for her husband.
Her cell rang.
Kya kar rai ho?
The deep luster of his voice got her heated n she flushed. Hayeee that blush. I wish I was there. Geet smiled. You can be here. I am not in Antarctica. Hmm. But Mrs. Khurana this time I want you to come to me. I am in KC. Jaldi aao mai wait kar raha hu. Geet looked at the watch. But Maan it's already 6. Haan toh? There are no curfews on road after 6. For your handsome, super smart, cool, sexy, every-girl's-dream husband you can't come here? Geet rolled her eyes. I am busy. She said just to piss him and practically could see him glaring through the phone and then he would have pouted, she was sure of it. Aao na jaan please. Accha baba. I will be there in half an hour. Muaaah. Tell me that you love me. Love you jaanu. She told lovingly. Love you too.
Geet smiled fondly as she hung up n got ready.
PRECAP- Why do you think Maan must be calling her? Think! Think!😛
