How do you feel on completion of your three years in Balika Vadhu?
In one word, it's magical. In this last three years I have realised one thing that I can act (smiles). Working with actors like Sulekha Sikhri, Anoop Soni, Satyajit Sharma, Smita Bansal is not a joke. Their experience is huge and they are a source of constant support for me. I am thankful to them and to my viewers for accepting me. Their feedback inspires me as an actor.
How do you feel on completion of five years of this show?
Balika Vadhu is a cult serial. Running continuously for five years is an achievement. There are shows which celebrate 400 episodes. I feel this serial is excellent. I love to act and do not bother about the commercial aspect. I don't understand the TRP business. A good show is all about a good story and script and this serial has all that and more.
How has this show changed your career?
A lot has changed. People know me through this show. After playing Jagya for last three years, I also achieved something" love and appreciation from the audience. Am learning every day. Many a TV show is dominated by the female lead and in that setup when I get to play a character like Jagya which has so many shades. It is a challenging and a blessed role.
Don't you feel saturated playing Jagya since three years?
Not at all. As I said, Playing different avatars of Jagya is so exciting. I consider the set of this show as a school. I get to learn so many things here.
Which co-stars do you love spending time with?
Without being diplomatic I feel everyone has their own space. I eat from Smita Bansal's lunch box everyday"that has become a custom for me (laughs). I discuss a lot on commercial stuff with Anoop Soni. Philosophical stuff I chat with Satyajit Sharma. And with Sriti, Toral, Anjum and Pratyusha"we are of almost same age"so, with them I share a jokes and have great fun.
What is your most memorable fan' experience?
Once an old man who came to the set and hugged me right away; the previous night, he revealed, he dreamt of me as his adopted son. I was stunned and felt humbled. God has given me the opportunity to entertain people through my work. I will never forget that man for the rest of my life.
Where do u see yourself five years from now?
I dream big. Professionally, I would rather see myself on a bigger canvas (any medium). I am not particular about that. Today, after three years if I am having a fan following of even 50 people, I am the happiest person. Personal life? I don't know as I surely can't predict anything.
