This is a beautiful story, Del.
But I would love it if the author would continue this.
She can easily turn this into a SS.

This story makes one think why a friendship between a man and a woman can't last after they et married to different pople. Why do we always look upon such relationships with suspicion?

Really wish the writer will continue this. Don't want Khushi to be sad and clothed in white.
Hope Arnav brings back colour and joy in her life.

This was... Wow.

I was expecting a sweet, cute OS.

But this was so full of emotion.

And the end was not one I expected.

I'd love to read more!

So continue soon!

And it saddens me how a girl and a guy can't be best friends without being judged.

What a beautifully written piece!
It is always more insightful and fun to read about Khushi through Arnav's perspective and we don't get a whole lot of that so it was quite a welcome change. He notices every single detail about his Khushi's demeanour, he compares her to a colourful autumn, he remembers her marriage and supporting her through the celebrations, they drift apart after her marriage and then he meets her again but this is not his Khushi, this is someone who has been through quite alot.
All I am thinking right about now is that I need to read a part 2, so dear writer please continue to write and we promise to be there!

PS. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece with us Shakespeare ;-)

PART 2
Arnav watched a pale faced Khushi walk towards him with a sense of graceful hesitance. Her once bewitching hazel eyes seemed to be assessing him with an air of caution, it was almost as if she was battling with herself in an attempt to believe that he simply wasn't a figment of her exhausted imagination. With each small step Khushi took, the gravel crunched beneath her feet, and it was in this particular moment, that time adopted a trance like quality for Arnav as he watched his broken, and incredibly fragile angel approach him.

Standing merely inches apart from each other, the two friends could feel a sense of welcome familiarity settle around them. Khushi slowly whispered Arnav's name with a sense of reverence and he felt a small hand close around his aching heart. His gentle orbs gingerly peaked into the depths of her haunted eyes and struggled to find the girl he once knew. A cool breeze danced amongst the dazed friends and succeeded at breaking into Arnav's perusal of Khushi's tortured soul.

"Khushi, I..." before he could speak any further Arnav found his Khushi embracing him tightly as an anchor in the shores of her emotionally turbulent mind. And thus began the journey of catharsis as she began to drain her soul of all the pain she had been harbouring since her husbands demise.

***

- PAYAL'S PERSPECTIVE -
I remember breathing a sigh of relief that day as I looked down from my bedroom window to witness Khushi finally breaking down in Arnav's protective arms. He was hugging her tightly to his chest and running his hands up and down her back in a helpless attempt to comfort the broken soul that my sister had become. It had been one week to the day since Abhinav had passed away in that horrific car accident, and it was in Arnav's arms I watched my baby sister finally shedding tears and grieving for her loss. Khushi and Abhinav loved each other so dearly, protected each other so fiercely, that it was difficult to ever imagine the two apart. Despite understanding Abhinav so well and knowing what an honourable man he was, I was always apprehensive about his alliance with Khushi. The relationship that she shared with Arnav always led me to believe that given the chance, the two could have become the perfect life partners. They loved each other with such sincerity that sometimes the tender looks between the two would steal my breath away. Their love was clear to see in anyone's eyes, and yet somehow the friendship never became anything more. I remember watching Arnav that day and believing that if an onlooker didn't know any better, they could have easily assumed that he too was mourning for the greatest loss of his life, such was the painful grief etched on his face. Somehow Arnav and Khushi's united sense of sorrow filled me with hope that day; I knew that if anyone could bring back my Khushi it would be Arnav.

***

Arnav tilted his head back slightly and wearily looked down at Khushi crying bitterly into his chest, she was shaking violently and painful sobs were wracking her fragile body, Arnav felt a great sense of helplessness enveloping him. Never had he seen his best friend look so vulnerable and brittle, he felt as if the very autumnal breeze he treasured, could somehow sweep her away from his powerful hold. Frightened by his own thoughts Arnav tightened his arms around Khushi whilst attempting to whisper words of comfort, only to find that his voice had deserted him. With hauntingly painful clarity Arnav questioned how on earth he could begin to console his Khushi over such a loss. What could he possibly say that would ease the pain? In the end the decision was made for him as he heard Khushi's whimpers subside and he felt her become limp in his arms. Exhausted, she had fainted.
