Ranbir's besharam is the biggest flop of the year.. Whereas Deepika's CE is the biggest hit of the year. So does that mean the success of YJHD was mainly because of deepika ? It looks like she was the real crowd puller .

The failure of Besharam proves that RK isn't the superstar savior he's made out to be. YJHD worked because of Deepika, the music and the overbearing annoying GFTO promotions done by Dharma and KJO.

And yes Deepika is a BIG reason why YJHD worked just like how Barfi worked because Priyanka was a major influence as well.

The real reason was KJo and the marketing team of YJHD! They should be in all those fancy MBA institutes teaching the kids how to be good highly paid salesmen

This is true the craze for ARK was just at the peak during YJHD release...

IMHO it was a collective success Entire cast, Lively music, Ex's being cast together after the spllit another factor.. and the more importantly KJo and dharma's Promotion strategy...

it was coz of a number of factors..deepika,ranbir,music,promotions n blah blah blah...still d way it became such a huge hit is a mystery to me...maybe it connected wid d youth coz of a young cast wid 2 A-list young actors...

Besharam may have flopped but let's not get carried away here. Ranbir is still a star and a crowd puller, as shown by the opening numbers of Besharam. Even the biggest star can't save a bad movie, in my opinion. YJHD was a success because of the cast(Ranbir, Deepika, ARK), good music, and those tacky, annoying promotions.
