Champions League T20 2013 Finals between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals

Champions League Twenty20 is all set to reach its climax. As mentioned in our earlier post Champions League T20 is back in India , this is the fifth edition of the Champions League Twenty20, aka international Twenty20 cricket tournament. Champions League Twenty20 had started with a bang from 18th Sep 2013. The season there were some interesting matches and the audiences had a great time watching their favorite teams and players on the field. So let's look at the journey of the two teams that managed to qualify for the finals.

In the Qualifying stage there were 4 teams, New Zealand Otago Volts, India Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pakistan Faisalabad Wolves and Sri Lanka Kandurata Maroons. Out of whichtwo top teams New Zealand Otago Volts, India Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to reach the next level. Out of Group A Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians qualified for the semifinals. Group B had Chennai Super Kings and Trinidad and Tobago which qualified for the semi-finals.

So which team managed to with the respective semi-finals!!! Well, CSK supporters were hoping for a win over Rajasthan Royals, but that was not the case. RR managed to put in 159 runs on the board. This was a decent total, but CSK had a bad start and were never able to catch up, and were all out on 145. It was a great performance by Dravid and his team. The Second Semi-finals was between Trinidad and Tobago and Mumbai Indians. This time Trinidad and Tobago put on 153 runs for Mumbai Indians to chase. Dwayne Smith and Dinesh Karthik managed to chase the total with 1 ball remaining.

Let's look at the top contenders for Golden Bat and Golden Wicket awards. Ajinkya Rahane from Rajasthan Royals is leading with 223 runs, followed by Suresh Raina with 221 runs. For Golden Wicket award, Sunil Narine from Trinidad and Tobago has 11 wkts and Pravin Tambe from Rajasthan Royals with 10 wkts.

So now it's all between 2 Indian Teams for the Champions League Twenty20 Finals. It's India Mumbai Indians v India Rajasthan Royals on the 6th Oct at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi at 8pm. So don't forget to watch the two legends of cricketing history, Rahul Dravidand Sachin Tendulkar face each other. It will be a real treat for the cricket fans to watch them both on the field.
